We spent the month of January as residents at our favourite rooftop in Jozi, The Living Room, where we played a different genre each weekend. By far our favourite was a beautiful Saturday sunset session where we delved into two hours of house and deep house with a lot of local flavours. It was so much fun to play a slightly different genre to our usual, so we decided to share this one with you.

I will never forget the feeling of walking over to the Shipwrecked Stage as the sun simmered down in the distance and the lights flickered on all around, seeing the sea of people swarming towards the space. A space that I had the honour of pouring my heart and soul into creating in the lead up to the event. It was like seeing the art of it in its entirety spring to life in a way that set something within me on fire. I sat behind the booth overlooking it on a terrace taking it all in, so tired, so nervous yet so inspired. What would I play? I decided to do what I love to do most and start with something that mirrored the sensations I was experiencing, in this instance giving myself a sparkly and soft moment to take a breath, feel the anticipation and settle in to enjoy the ride of what ever was to come. And what came was so much FUN. 

Thank you to all who approached me afterwards to share tales of their experiences and to all that were there moving and grooving and to everyone that contributed to this set happening in all shapes and forms. Thank you to Sanoi for creating the intro with me. To the musicians who created the tracks played, THANK YOU.

I had the privilege of performing my first ever live set at the 8th Day of Creation (@8doc_music) at Afrikaburn 2024 between 10-12pm on the Saturday night. The theme of this years Burn was "Creation" and so it felt so fitting to play all original music at this incredible art piece. 

The stage was built by an international team from Berlin and Cape Town, and depicted a pregnant mother with the earth as her belly, a space of renewal, reconnection and rebirth.

I used Ableton Push, Novation Launch Control XL, Akai MPK Mini and Playtronica's touch sensitive midi hardware which I connected to a mushroom to trigger sound.

Thank you to 8Doc for having me as a part of your beautiful stage and thank you to all those who trekked to the far end of the playa to dance with me.

Words won't do justice to this amazing energy driven, fire lit, infatuated session with the dutch powerhouse DJ Bobby Maya - part of my soul remains right there in the desert. With all of YOU who danced, shouted and followed up on this incredible journey.  Here is our recording from Thursday night !

Afrika Burn, what an intense experience❣️ At the beginning of the year I didn't even know that I was going there and then the @mbombo_ship gave me the opportunity to move up there as an artist🙏❤️ As a result, moving up resulted in one or two hurdles, but one after the other was overcome. However, overnight accommodation was no longer possible in the Mbombo Camp and so I was very grateful that the @campwhynot took us in as really latecomers🙏❤️ My two planned performances were the opening ceremony (which was really very loving) for the Mbombo Camp and a DJ set on their truck on the closing Sunday. 
Unfortunately, the DJ set didn't happen because the truck had a technical defect that couldn't be repaired on the last day😥 Luckily, two spontaneous slots for the Why Not Camp opened up during my stay there. Although these weren't exactly prime time, I was still very grateful to be able to get playtime there as a latecomer and so at least this recording is available here🙏 The recording was made one afternoon when I spontaneously took over the decks. During the course of my set it became increasingly stormy and a real sandstorm arose, which is why it was over again after two hours for safety reasons. Welcome to the desert of Tankwa Town / South Africa🤷‍♂️🤪 
If I were to report on all of my experiences there, I would go beyond the scope of this article. That's why I'm not going to go into it any further now, but instead let you share with me at least two hours of my time there with this set and my music🎶
Once again I would like to express my gratitude to the Mbombo Ship and the Why Not Camp for this opportunity and perhaps again in 2025🙏❤️

To experience my first Afrikaburn, being part of the amazing Spirit Train Tribe,  plus the slot for my set was just incredible and definitely one for the books.

To watch the crowd growing from the scratch, the march altogether through the desert and this massive crowd, the mood and energy - wow.
I absorbed all of that and expressed it all in this set.
