Mycrazyro Switched Up

Romell Morris, more widely known by his artist moniker MyCrazyRo, is bringing a new energy
to West Coast melodic rap. At only 21 years old, the Long Beach, California native melds
infectious rhythmic vocals with brash lyricism to create the perfect sonic melding pot. The up-
and-coming rapper refuses to be boxed into one sound, and while holding California culture in
high regard, he is intent on carving his own path. This duality is cleverly represented by his rap
name, which is a blend of his first name with the namesake of the iconic My Krazy Life album by
fellow California rap legend YG.

From the very beginning, hip-hop was Ro’s calling. Though he had a turbulent childhood, music
always proved to be a guiding light. He learned the ropes of the genre by way of his older
cousins who dabbled in rapping and recording. Ro’s music would later be inspired by legends
from his city, as well as superstars like Chris Brown. At only 12 years old, Ro began writing his
own raps and the following year he ventured into the studio for the first time. He vividly
remembers his first time in the studio to be an eye-opening experience, during which he
experimented with echos and ad-libs, while his sister documented. From the moment he wrote
and recorded his first verse, Ro knew that music would play a significant role in his life and from
then on, he began to carefully and expertly craft his sound.

In 2018, Ro released his first official song “Switched Up” which first debuted on YouTube and
garnered early regional attention. Since then, he has been consistently releasing singles,
solidifying his fan base and feeding his ever-growing audience as he perfects his forthcoming
debut project. Ro describes each of his songs to be representative of a specific period in his life,
identifying the most with his single 2021 “Betrayed” because it marks a clear transition in his
sound that reflects how he always imagined himself as an artist.

2022 was a monumental year for the budding artist. Ro signed his first record deal with 300
Entertainment and graced stages across the country and embarked on a tour with Kalan FrFr in
December 2022. He felt a newfound pride hearing crowds scream his name and felt especially
embraced at his shows in California, solidifying his steadfast hometown support. As he gears up
for an even bigger year in 2023, Ro is fine-tuning new music and looking forward to playing
more live shows. He is set to release a new single Spring 2023 and continue to lay the bricks for
his debut project, coming soon!
