Cafe Del Mar - Mykill's set - G7 opening party

For once I had the opportunity to play at a unique event at an early time, so my job was not to trash the dance floor but to warm up the atmosphere and get the crowd into the mood for things to come. So I chose to leave my comfort zone and play a brand new set with new tracks that I never played before, ranging from ambient, to chill to tech and deep house all at a down tempo. A special thanks to all my friends and to Victor John & Twain for organizing such a unique event. May 2014 bring us more quality music and nights out. x

On Sunday 13th April 2014, Cafe' Del Mar, Malta launched the Sunday Sessions. This is a live recording of the first 2 and a half hours from Mykill's 5 hour set. Recorded my set as performed for the Avatar area in the Racket Club at Snowbombing festival Austria 2010, sadly this time the bongos are not recorded! i ll try convince Bongo to add them in the studio,,, its a bit heavier then my usual sets as the crowd at the festival was more into elektro,,,and the vibe needed harded music,,,and i loved putting this set together,,,, ahhhh,,,, see u for snowbombign 2011!

Here is a live recording of my crazy House set as mixed and recorded live at my residency at the Sunday Bacardi afternoon parties at the mighty Tex Mex. After the first hour Alex joins me on trumpet, the recording is a bit rough as I was focusing more on the party in front of me on the dance floor, and what a party! One stormy Sunday afternoon a group of party animals gathered at The Fortress in Xemxija for the opening of the famous Six Sundays.. I made sure the drive was worth their while! Please note this is a live mix recording, I did not record this for people sitting at home listening on their pc speakers, the music was mixed according to the dance floor in front of me, so put it loud, get up and party! I got so excited about my debut performance in Qatar for the "Pacha goes to go Doha" event at the Marriott Beach on the 6th June that I got inspired  to upload this mix as a warm up  to the big night.....This set was recorded live as mixed by Mykill at Malibu Beach, Sunny Coast, Xtravaganza, Six Sundays special closing party.... It is a very chilled remix compared to my usual hit after hit selection, but i think this is more the perfect soundtrack to a sunny after noon pool party... Warm up for summer 2013...

For the past 20 years Mykill has established himself as one of Malta’s top djs, with residencies at the biggest venues like: Café del Mar, Gianpula, Isle of MTV festival and all major national and international events by Pacha, G7, Malta Tourism Authority, ADE, Sunglasses at Night and Whysoserious.

On an International level his adventures behind the decks have taken him to play world wide events exporting his unique dj sets with Internationally renowned clubbing franchises such as Pacha, Buddha bar, MTV, Amsterdam Dance Event and Ministry of Sound in: Ibiza, Dubai, Caribbean Island of St Martin, Qatar, Austria, Amsterdam, Prague, Czech Republic, London, Italy, Latvia, Slovakia and Cyprus to name a few.

Mykill started his musical stint as a guitarist and front man in a punk band in the 90s, eventually swapping his electric guitar for a pair of turntables and a mixer. Working hard and putting in the years to finally establishing his name as an original Dj, show man and crowd pleaser.  

 

Mykill is a party Dj, when he takes over the Dj stand the dance floor ignites immediately, as he delivers track after track, never taking safe bets, but simply interacting with his crowd no matter what capacity the club holds, like a friend would put tunes you love at your private house party. Having a musical background Mykill loves teaming up with musicians in his set, with carefully rehearsed impromptu solos on top of his mixes accompanied by live musicians. One of his most popular side projects is Mykill & Brass as he performs with live trumpet, saxophone and percussions.
