The original version of NO CONTROL by Bro Safari, UFO! and Beauty Brain is a HUGE peak hour trap influenced dance floor banger. Me and Mark paid homage to the energy of the original but put our own unique twist on it. Drum and bass in both tempo and spirit, we added a lot of unique elements to make it little bit tribal and a little bit metal. We wanted to really push the boundaries and make this remix heavy and unique as fuck. I have personally tested this thing all over the place and it absolutely smashes. Enjoy!

With Zane Lowe pedestalling the first glimpse into Bensley’s diverse soundscape, ‘Fandango’ was a precursor for this forthcoming debut. ‘Next Generation’ is a bold move; with drum & bass being a genre which has certainly stood the test of time, newcomers have incredibly big shoes to fill. However, Bensley incorporates an innovative and incredibly intricate set of production skills to hold a title of his own.

But what can you expect from an artist who was signed after sending a single demo to revered label head Andy C. That’s despite having no previous releases or having any other music available to stream online. He was somewhat of a mystery.
‘Fandango’ was that track. And it was premiered as a world exclusive on leading tastemaker Radio1, which followed with support from the likes of Mistajam on 1xtra, as well as DJs on both Kiss and XFM.

Already demonstrating his widespread appeal with just one track, his air of mystery is now about to be broken. He’s definitely an anomaly; being only nineteen and having impressed so many people.

‘Next Generation’ is a 10-track journey through an impressively diverse soundscape. Whether it’s half-time breakdowns or the incorporation if cross genre-pollination it shows an astounding ability which will not go unrecognised.
From the opening bars of ‘Wildfire’, to the softly spoken pads and atmospheric note arpeggios of ‘Rain Dance’, then wrapped up by aptly named closing track ‘Aftermath’, there’s no denying Bensley’s masterful artistry.

Title-track ‘Next Generation’ leads you by the hand with snippets of humanistic sample, flowing in and out of its construct. It’s built upon by striking note progressions, a relaying of patterns which chop and change the mix. Carefully placed subs add impact, with emphasis given on each break, carrying the track forward down a steep drop with each slab of bass.

Drawing together a dizzying and fresh array of new sounds, this album indicates why Bensley is a forerunner within the new generation of music comers. Its representative of the fast paced technological setting of music production he grew up around; it also proves that Bensley is able to tap into dimensions which are often unheard of in other bodies of work.

Next Generation

Into Black was more of a stylistic choice. My music has always reflected a certain side of me that comes across naturally, particularly my Drum & Bass music. The sound of the EP was more of a throwback to my older sounds and influences, combined with newer elements; I spent a day sampling, then processing, cutting, re-arranging... although I also wanted for the EP to have it's main elements entirely synthesized. Spending time with my peers has taken me out of an old habit, inspiring me to create more. Into Black is a result of that.

MYKOOL is a drum and bass artist who discovered his passion for music in 2011 while exploring the intricacies of sound design. Fascinated by the process, he began to recreate music from his favourite TV shows and games, before branching out to create his own tracks. After experimenting with different genres such as house and chillstep, MYKOOL eventually found his musical calling in drum and bass.

Over the years, MYKOOL has released numerous tracks with labels such as Nu Venture Records, Dark Mode (4NCY), and Hospital Records, where he collaborated with Lost Child on their Future Symptoms EP. Recently, he has been releasing with YANA Music, a label run by Toronto Is Broken, where he has made a name for himself with his sound.

MYKOOL's career has seen him perform at various venues, including Hospitality On The Beach, Boiler Room, Pop Brixton, and Basement 45. He has supported acts such as Tantrum Desire, Subsonic, Document One, and Philth, as well as headlining for Rave Reborn, impressing audiences with his dynamic and electrifying performances.

With the support of Radio 1 and Kiss Radio, MYKOOL's music has become increasingly popular, leading up to the release of his album "Aura" on April 28, 2023. The album features collaborations with PAV4N, a founding member of the UK hip-hop crew, Foreign Beggars, Toronto Is Broken, Lost Child and Lateral. Aura showcases MYKOOL's growth as a musician, highlighting his skills as a vocalist and producer, and is set to be his most exciting release to date. With his passion for innovation and pushing the boundaries of drum and bass, MYKOOL is poised for continued success and growth in the electronic music scene.
