By chance, made exactly 2½ years after the last music I made ("Elevation," 4/5 Oct 21).

"Composure" refers to the root word, "compose," because it's, of course, a musical composition, but mostly references keeping one's composure.

The counting relates to the beat of music but, also, the way I've finished tasks for much of my life, when anxiety makes them too difficult:  by breaking them down into steps (such as turning a door knob, walking to the car, unlocking the car, etc. to get to work or an appointment).

"I don't know where I'll be tomorrow; I don't know yesterday -- nor do any of us. "

This refers to my not knowing where my current situation will put me tomorrow, but also the fact that none of us can predict the future (referring to me:  my situation could finally improve).

Not "knowing yesterday" refers to how sleep trims details of the previous day, but also how (outside of possible exceptional individuals) we can't experience the past as we once did.

The overarching subject is that we are only where and who we are at any given moment; the past and future aren't irrelevant, but they aren't our current experience (not even yesterday and tomorrow). And because focusing on each step in a task forces one to live in each moment (though, admittedly, the future creeps in constantly, because that's what's causing the anxiety), it's related to reminding oneself to "take one day at a time."

Nothing revelatory, even for me, but a topic of thought lately (more than usual).
