He lived in the shadow, thought it locked him tight
Tried to burn brighter just to prove his worth out loud
Fought off demons with a fragile hand
Shoved them back, swore he’d make his stand
October clean with a sky cut clear
Every morning hit, he was still right here
But the shadow clung where the cracks ran black
Balconies whispered what he wouldn’t whisper back

Pulled so hard, the ground gave way
Every night bled into day

The silence caught him as his fingers slipped
All that weight no body could grip
Fell like thunder, split straight through
That’s when the line finally broke in two

The shadow told him he’d never stand tall
So he lit himself till he burned it all
Now he’s gone and the air won’t move
Walls still echo the life he proved
Photos grin, holding on to breath
Their smiles are ghosts, still sharp with death
Love still burns in the cracks, the scars
His song etched deep in who we are
