Steinski And The Mass Media 'The Motorcade Sped On'

In 1995, English electronic outfit Globo were working on their pioneering Club Globo live events, where the band would perform alongside DJs in epic five hour sets that would segue between the DJs and the live musicians without the audience knowing (or caring) which was which.

Globo's subversive and dark visuals took over the entire club, entire walls becoming screens for information, often contact details which they described as 'useful'. 

At one event, every flat surface in the ladies toilets was covered with silver foil by artists who were invited by Globo to collaborate. Tape machines playing strange messages were hidden in quiet alcoves.

This recording, Worldnet Wireless, was made for a radio station broadcast and was an attempt to recreate the Club Globo experience. Four of these sessions were created, and they were intended to be made available worldwide for community radio stations and the like in lieu of Globo being able to tour extensively.

Globo signed to London underground electronic music label Hydrogen Dukebox in 1994 and released four albums, Pro-War, This Time It's Globo, This Is London 1966 and Globo's This Nation's Saving Saving Grace.
