Instrumental psychedelic hip-hop hybrid Lilacs & Champagne spent their first two albums shining a light on the darkest corners of vintage European cinematic oddities. Their eponymous debut album and the follow-up, Danish & Blue, were warped, psychedelic takes on damaged funk and b-movie film scores. With their palette now thoroughly smeared, coconspirators Emil Amos and Alex Hall are flirting with the makings of a masterpiece in Midnight Features Vol. 2: Made Flesh. From the mournful opening breaths of “Roses & Kisses” – a new career high point for the band – it’s obvious they are charting a dynamic new course that simultaneously pays tribute to and explodes the legendary beatmakers that came before. Midnight Features Vol. 2 skins traditional hip-hop to its bones, then builds it back up with the flesh of Eastern European private press psych records, obscure film soundtracks, indistinguishable radio broadcasts, library tapes, and who knows what else from who knows where else. The most remarkable feat of Midnight Features Vol. 2 is not the impressive array of sound sources, but how Lilacs have managed to orchestrate so many seemingly disparate genres into one cohesive future music. They execute sudden changes in mood and tone with uncanny dexterity and grace – a feat made more impressive by their newly expanded line-up that includes Jay Clarke (Ash Black Bufflo) and Zac Reno. They’ve clearly found their groove, and they’re just starting to dig in.

We've been riding Oceaán's musical wave since he made a positively banging mix for us back in November. Never faltering, the Manchester-based producer has since dropped The Grip EP via @ChessClubRecords featuring complete earworm, Grip. We honestly didn't see how he could top it, but in what would prove to be a brilliant move he handed another EP track, Candour, over to US producer Ellie Herring for her to work her magic on it. Keeping things just as chilled, she weaves warm and beautiful synths with a snappy snare, adding the ideal dose of bass. Ryan Hemsworth was right to champion Ellie through his Secret Songs label. We'll certainly be listening to this number for a long time to come.

Bruising formed late last year after singer and guitarist Naomi Baguley spotted Ben Lewis wearing a Perfect Pussy t-shirt in a Leeds nightclub. Bonding over a mutual love of all things fuzzy, they began messaging voice memos from their phones back and forth until, finally, they got together in the same room and started writing some songs. This is one of them.

Self-recorded in their bedrooms in Hyde Park, Leeds, 'Can't You Feel' is pretty much the epitome of what Bruising want to do - fuzzy pop with big hooks, riddled with earworm guitar riffs and led by aloof-yet-infectious dream-clad vocals. 

'Can't You Feel' is taken from the upcoming Beech Coma compilation, Vol. 3. Featuring exclusive new music from the likes of Jr., Thalassocracy and bare pale, the compilation will be released 9th March 2015 on ltd red cassette, t-shirt bundle and digital download - pre-order from http://beechcoma.bandcamp.com/. Diet Cig is a pop rock band from New Paltz, NY, fronted by Alex Luciano with Noah Bowman of Earl Boykins (Forged Artifacts) on drums. The five charming songs on the debut Over Easy EP, written by Alex in the comforts of her bedroom, capture the innocence of adolescence and infatuation. Over Easy was recorded on Halloween 2014 with Christopher Daly at Salvation Recording Co in New Paltz, NY (Porches, Quarterbacks, Earl Boykins) and mastered by Jamal Ruhe at West West Side Music.
