Piano trio in D flat major (Des-Dur), op. 12

I dedicated the piano trio to my late father. I gave expression to this by inserting a mourning chorale ("Wir sind nur Gast auf Erden") in the finale, which has always convinced me in terms of melody and harmonic structure. It is heard as a new subject in the middle of the movement and as a final climax before the coda.

Remembering my Father this Memorial Day - who passed away in 2019 at the age of 101 - he was a World War 2 veteran - a member of a bombing crew that flew 25 missions over Germany targeting munitions factories - I am lucky to be here - through 'Farewell' I remember.

a music sometimes far from a rigorous classicism,
slightly different, even experimental.
