in the hollowness of a dead end

there are pieces of me
in others

those coming to my cheek 
with greetings

its in the letting go

When you call objects objects long enough
they become just that
just a thing

if i gathered corn husk
found in the field
where you grow...
the earth you’ve tended to each season...

if i made the corn husk
into a bird
if i kept her at our window

we watched the sun set
she watched the moon while we slept

if she is just a thing
then the window
is at the edge
of a tornado

~ it's just a part

When we cared for the food we ate...
...and each night the stars would skip up and down
