How fun it is to play an instrument! Repeating the same phrase over and over is like a child's game. I'm a grown-up, so I try to make a different phrase, but I get attached to the phrase I've played many times, so I can't change it well. Maybe I should play using chord tones like bebop. I hate practicing, so it's impossible for me.

You And The City

August 2025 Currently on residency in Italy ! 
These are 3 short sketches using field recordings captured around Montegiovi, Tuscany. With these little works I am experimenting freely with what can be produced from each days sounds -  manipulating them and stiching them back together with the aim of producing a long format work at the end of the residency. 
I am truly thankful for this opportunity that has been provided for me by the Salamanca Arts Centre in Tasmania and Cultivate Projects/La Baldi residency in Italy and The USA. 
And of course the wonderful people of Montegiovi ! 

Tuscany Experiments 1 - 3

The duration is set to 61.8 bars to represent the Golden Ratio metaphorically. The song is based on a 432Hz tuning fork and is about empowering humans of all ages to teach themselves the universe as they genuinely see it themselves and stop listening to the liers that talk the talk but are actually idiots like many world leaders. We have all levels of intelligence through all cohorts of society. Just because someone convinced you to vote for them, doesn't make what they say truthful and has no reflection on their true intelligence. Read yourself and read the world. Maybe we shouldn't be told what there is to see... Maybe we should look at it and figure it out ourselves! Who knows you might get a slightly different result to Archimedes and humanities collective consciousness might evolve with you...

Kind of a not-very-remix of a track I heard on a Netflix documentary about the history of the Roland 808.  The original is cheesy as fuck, but there's something about the main chorus that I just had to sample.  So here it is...

Cars That Go Boom

As so often the case, I conducted a jam session in which I used a vast amount of sounds, settings and samples and recorded the stereo in Audacity, which I used in posts-production to extract the best parts from that jam session in order to create this track. As always, I only used basic audio editing techniques like simple crossfades. Only a touch of soft limiting and a high-pass filter were applied, no elaborate approaches like mastering were used whatsoever. Thus, the result is raw and highly dynamic in nature, so put your favourite headphones on and turn up that volume knob, because the Loudness War is for losers!
