Well here we go, a subject that even in this modern age can create extreme opinions and I've never had any intention of trying to change somebody else's beliefs. I have been known to stand up and be counted when those impinge on basic human rights but, as a general rule, when it comes to religion I keep myself to myself. If something works for you there are no questions to be asked. There was no particular event that I can remember that moved me to making this decision but at a very young age it became clear to me that there could not possibly be a God for me. From that moment I have taken full responsibility for all my own actions and mistakes. I remember it being one of the biggest releases of my life and I felt so relieved to get that monkey off my back. This song is a representation of that moment.
The picture is of me when I was just a little bit younger and whilst I have never regretted my decision, I understand that the monkey wasn't so happy…

A fictional advert song for soundcloud from a listener’s perspective dedicated to the great community of Soundcloud.

This song started with the chorus and the title „soundcloud“, which came to my mind, when I rode my bicycle going to work. I developed it then on the piano. When I worked on it I realized, that it would become a 12/8 soul-ballad in the tradition of Motown, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick and other artists of the 70s.  Also Burt Bacharach comes to my mind as one of the great songwriters, who wrote many phantastic songs for Dionne Warwick and others. I immediately thought on

to take over the lead-vocals and I had the plan to collaborate again with

and luckily they both agreed to join. I have to thank both for their amazing contributions for this track.

Last weekend my friend and old bandmate came into town and we worked on this song together. We kinda cut our teeth together, wrote many records together and I hope we can make a full album together in the future. Danny is one of my closest friends and although he lives in so cal, we stay in touch and always have. I was fantastic to see him and play together again.  If you know my playing you can hear his influence in every note on the bass and how I approach arrangement and feel. 

This song is heavy duty Rootbeer, our original band, and when I wrote the original arrangement I had Dr. D in mind. So cool he showed up when he did.

When Bri was a mature student at Warwick University, one of the things I looked forward to most was the ‘clunk’ of a Jiffy bag on the front door-mat, almost invariably containing a cassette of his latest demos.  “Once I Found It” comes from one such, entitled “IHOHO RADIO”, which took the form of a pseudo radio broadcast with Bri as DJ.  It’s his voice you hear both announcing and talking all over this Polar Bear & The Rhubarbs classic – where are they now, eh?  
Once again, this is the only version of the song we have, hence being presented here as it appears on the original IHOHO cassette. The cover art is from one of Bri’s own  lyric books, the reason I’m able to be quite so precise about the date it was written…
