For a large part of my life, I've never viewed instrumental electronic music as a suitable outlet for real-world emotion; I've always felt that the synthesizer was outclassed by, say, a guitar and earnest prose. But for the first time, I've reached a point of comfort to tell a heartfelt story solely with arpeggiators and wordless melodies. 'The Four Stages' is about dealing with loss, and is dedicated to my late father, without whom I would not be here making music today. 

It's derived from the five stages of grief; but this time, there are only four, because I believe no one fully accepts the passing of a loved one.

This record is dedicated to my late father Peter, whom I lost in 2021. He's a major creative force in my life, and greatly inspired me to pursue everything I did with unwavering passion. It's full of recordings I had of him wandering around the house — occasionally popping in to the studio to hear what I was working on — and this song loops perfectly, so a part of him now exists forever in the universe.
