The ‘Dispatch Dubplate’ label represents a new series of releases from Dispatch that focuses on special remixes of past tracks as well as new material with an emphasis on the ‘dubplate’ cutting culture of days gone past that we feel has been missing across more recent years as part of what was once a very vinyl / acetate led scene. The vinyl format itself will play an important role, with exclusive ‘dubplate only’ tracks featured per release in the series all pressed on a strictly limited, one time only x 300 press without any release specific artwork, to retain an air of mystery to every new release.

The first release is a family affair; Break returns to Dispatch to deliver a sublime remix of “The Formula” by DLR, Hydro, Mako & Villem from last summer. Already receiving multiple plays by Friction on BBC Radio 1, the remix causes major damage on the dancefloor, as Break’s signature drums encase a rigorous sub bass assault. 

For the second track “Direct Approach”, both ‘dubplate’ and digital versions of the track will appear on each format with the dubplate mix of the track only appearing on vinyl; it’s a hotly anticipated debut link up between two extraordinary talents, Xtrah & DLR. A clash of 2 production titans, this was always going to be a rowdy collaboration; and it’s one we’re proud to debut as part of this exclusive series of releases.

Deep beneath the surface of the cosmic ocean, in the sea of quintessence lies the Bassquarium, an endless reef of glowing speaker-corals and crystalline sound systems. It is said to hum with the first Amen break ever dropped — vibrations that ripple out into every rave, every festival, every pirate signal beamed into the night.

From these depths swim the Wobblefish, radiant alien creatures whose fins shimmer like waveforms and whose tendrils pulse with sub-bass frequencies. Each Wobblefish is born of a different frequency band — the golden ones carry the warm mids, the violet ones ripple with high-end shimmer, and the titanic blue elders channel the pure rolling sub-bass that can be felt in your chest.

Junglists whisper that when a Wobblefish passes by, your heartbeat syncs to its rhythm. Entire shoals of them have been known to trigger mass skanking on distant shores, as if the ocean itself were rewinding the dancefloor.

But beware: the Bassquarium is not a zoo, it’s a temple. The Wobblefish are sacred guardians of rhythm, and only those who enter with open ears and wobbling knees are granted the vision of their dance. To hear them sing is to experience the cosmic wobble — a sensation somewhere between a drop, a dream, and the best night of your life at 160 BPM.

‘I Know' begins how it means to go on, forebodingly intricate and gradually building before growing into a climatic drop. Clunking beats and metallic pads take you down a roller coaster ride
of twanging sub, pulling you in different directions. Reverberating drums bring you along a journey, a futuristic dimension of sub bass that pulls you even deeper into the composition. About midway, the track allows you to take in your musical surroundings, a creeping mixture of diced up sample and paranoia inducing atmospherics. You're then subjected to another peak, one that'll catch you unaware and once again throw you down the rabbit hole. Subtension is a

Skantia is one of the youngest members of the Ram roster but his work rate is impeccable. With three releases already under his belt for 2020, he remains at the helm of the label’s schedule with brand-new single ‘Disconnect’ ft. Haribo and ‘Bones’.

Manchester resident Haribo has become a familiar face across the drum & bass underground in recent years and he lends his vocals to the immersive wizardry of Skantia’s ‘Disconnect’, creating vocal stepping stones to its breakdowns. Then the reverse ‘Bones’ is a dub which has been heavily sought after, presenting a characterisation of the Skantia sound, through its stabs and crushing LFOs.
