Sciama's DJ set kicked off the third day of performances curated at Castell de Montjuïc for Mostra 23 (@mostrabcn). The second edition of the Catalan festival brought together a total of 1,000 people across two different locations and featured four days of musical acts. The lineup included 31 artists who delivered high-quality avant-garde and experimental electronic sounds.

Developing her style from age 17 onwards, when she started playing in squats and industrial spaces around Basel, she’s continuously making her mark with warm, reverberating techno cuts from across the spectrum. During her residencies at Hinterhof Bar and Elysia, Timnah‘s sets fluently cover (and transcend) shades of techno, experimental and ambient music, establishing her as a firm favourite amongst dancers and peers. Smooth mixing skills, strong emotional narratives and an intuitive understanding of dancefloor dynamics continue to define her style, seamlessly cruising through the small hours of the night.

So excited to welcome BLNDR to the series, a long-awaited delight after observing the French producer develop his magnetic and kaleidoscopic sound over the years. BLNDR's mix is glimmering and atmospheric, reflective of the patient and meticulous nature inhabiting his work as both BLNDR and his more-recent Traevor alias. Voiced in a heartfelt tone and assembled with a poet's touch, this set is a soft yet spry landing to an intense season, breathing a new air, fluttering to a new rhythm, earnest to the very end. Our latest Podcast chapter comes in the form of a mesmerising all-vinyl set by the Spanish duo Binomi, interweaving experimental, psychedelic and avant-garde ambient music from across the decades with personal field recordings. Recorded live at the Hangar in Barcelona as part of the 2023 edition of Mostra, it is a dreamy two-hour sound adventure sprinkled thorough with the dusty film of gentle record crackles and pensive undertone. 

"How to translate a friendship of more than 10 years into a mix? After a long coexistence, the pandemic represents a hiatus in our musical relationship. Mostra23 is the perfect excuse and the best stage to resume it. A new sound has emerged in us, complicity, laughter, and goosebumps confirm it. The set configured with 3 turntables and accompanied by field recordings made in Australia and Tasmania form a soundtrack of shared sensations across the distance. Through genres, we define our experiences; new age, drone, experimental or avant-garde music, minimalism, and psychedelia can be its labels. Who knows, we just hope it transports you to places as distant or as close as those it evokes for us. It has been a real pleasure."

Binomi are Jordi Aparicio and Joan Gila, both from Tarragona, Spain. Avid collectors of records, their search for sound brought them together in Barcelona more than a decade ago.

Somewhere lurking under the last leaves on the ground, squirming and squelching with the mycelium and microorganisms, we find Timnahs sonic world tucked away in a sacred place. Taking inspiration from the natural world, she has solidified a name for herself as a purveyor of psychedelic rhythms and carefully curated cacophonies. As a resident at the renowned Elysia club in Basel, she has honed her skills further and expanded her sound into ambient and experimental territories. 

This edition of Unrush is a testament to Timnah's ear for the uncanny and sense for crafting a dynamic narrative. Solemn drones guide us like a soft breeze into the winter months, only interrupted by washes of organic textures and subtle electronics. Mysteries of the Deep is a New York-based record label, podcast, and event series — focused on ambient & experimental music in various forms. Mysteries — as fans lovingly call it — is concerned with exploration of unknown realms, and its focus, in addition to showcasing a dynamic spectrum of electronic music from foremost artists in the field, is to thoughtfully engage its audience. 

Conceptualized in 2011, Mysteries began as a podcast series that, now in its eleventh year, has hosted an array of mixes and original works. The project has since evolved, expanding into a curated global event series and record label.
