Always interested in your stuff, Dave. I would be curious to hear this one without the 'tanh' distortion: I found it a bit distracting, and at first, thought something was wrong with my soundcard.

FWIW, as a relatively dedicated practitioner of pure sine waves for Just Intonation, I *love* your tanh distortion and fully intend to reverse engineer/steal it :)

The piece - Lafken Kürüf - has been composed from recordings taken in the south of Chile in 2015. Mixing various sounds of the wind and the ocean, as well as glimpses of voices, those emblematic sounds from my stay there are composed in a short piece transcribing the powerful sonic landscape that has accompany me during the three months spent in the Mapuche Lafkenche community of Traïtraïko Leufu. The noise of the wind on the rooftop of my house and the rumble from the Pacific Ocean close by kept me from sleeping at night as i would imagine it coming out from its bed, like in the Mapuche Lafkenche mythology.

This is the last song of  "Me, and the waters"  series.
I made this song with the sound of the forest rain and moving water, and I played crystal bowls with the little bit my singing.
In this july, it was always raining when I heard some goodbye.
Farewell has a special feeling that is sad and not sad always.

Hunenimoko Ⅱ

I've recently discovered (at long last) the music of Danish composer Per Nørgård. He developed a compositional techniques based on what he called the "infinity series", which is a simple formula for developing a series of numbers based on an interval such as a minor second. The series takes the initial interval and then slowly expands upon it both upwards and downwards in pitch, getting broader in scope as it progresses. This idea can be used to generate melodies, rhythms, or other aspect of a composition.

I decided to try playing around with this, but applying it to microtonal intervals, using Csound and a Python script to generate the Csound score according to the series. I ended up with this brief study, which takes the first 256 terms of the series and applies it to three of my favorite intervals simultaneously:
 - 9/8 (major whole tone from the 9th harmonic)
 - 11/8 (unidecimal tritone,from the 11th harmonic)
 - 7/4 (septimal minor seventh, from the 7th harmonic)

The starting tone (240 Hz) plays throughout the piece as the other notes unfold above and below it. I used sine waves processed with a touch of tanh distortion to add a slight amount of harmonic content.

This track was pulled from Lockdown Jam 4, improvised live at home on 10/05/2020, using the inspiring work of of @idin-samimi-mofakham, @martyna-kosecka and Michael Vallone (@taraexperiment), and some contemporary piano provided by Heidi Hart as source material.

It's dark mysterious feel conjures up images of a North African labyrinthine medina, hence the title! 

Unlike most of our tracks, where we do use a certain amount of remixing of the original jams, a technical issue meant we only had the master track to work with, so this an edit of the live improv as it happened!
