Originally released in 1994. L.S.G.’s ‘Blueprint EP’, containing “Hearts” and “Blueprint” remains an undisputed reference for a whole musical genre. It was one of the most successful releases at the time and indeed a blueprint for things to come. The man behind L.S.G. and other projects is Oliver Lieb, one of the most talented producers of electronic music. The two tracks perfectly showcase L.S.G.’s eerie sound creations in a perfect production and all his science works at its finest in this EP. “Hearts” is a heart-breaking tune with a distorted line and a melancholic harp evolving. “Blueprint” adds even more depth, tension and mystery before launching its amazingly gated synths and this famous little melody. It's unbelievable how perfect the sounds are, both on the musicality/harmony and mixing/mastering. The Blueprint EP has been remastered by Oliver Lieb in 2025.

Who are we?

Mysterymen were born in 2001 out of the industrial North East of England, and set up their studio on the banks of the river Tyne.

Amassing together their analogue machines, they began creating a unique, diverse and very individual sound.

Being hailed as the new techno-opera-futurists, they are well versed in producing accomplished and unusual electro. Mysterymen have transcended from a twisted personal setting.

Comprising the industrial landscape but giving way to the romance lying there in-between, it leaves pretty much of the debut out of the field of comparable producers.
To no surprise the tracks inhale the congeniality of analogue synthesizers, drum machines and vocoders, all synchronised by a trusty Atari computer.

Their album ‘Everything but an Answer’ on Disko B, features a compact diversity of tracks such as ‘Fast Bitches’, with its trashy noise beats and ominous Atari vocals, to the warm melodic beauty of ‘Sleepy Elvis’.

In most of the cases of the instrumental compositions they take up the fight with death disco, but are way ahead of big-city-packed aimlessness, enjoying the advantages of post-twenism.

‘Ploink’ takes you out for an escape-flight into almost fairy-tale coloured green leaving you awaking on top of a carbon-black hill with the broken beats of a vapour trail writing:

`Is it real? Mysterymen won’t leave you without a helping hand and offer warmth in brutality.

They show you both sides: the imaginative, but into the face-truth, the escapism and the dirt. But hey, that’s how it is up in the industrial North.

Their first single ‘Wide Apart’ on Disko B, found its way into many a record bag. A dark synthy groove with bass sweeps to die for. ‘Clapman’ sounds like Numan touched slo-mo techno, and ‘Moving’ has classic Moroder styles with 80ies chic.

Their follow up single ‘Electromode’ takes no prisoners – sounding like Fisherspooners core gone critical, it created massive dancefloor hysteria, finding its way into trendy London clubs, such as ‘Nag Nag Nag’. The flip, ‘Your Best Friends’, showing their lighter side, is catchy synth pop.

‘Alkali’ is mysterymen’s own label, and has seen success with the release of its first 12”, ‘Monofunk’. Backed by primetime airplay on BBC Radio 1 Pete Tong and the late John Peel and high profile DJ Gigolos such as Hell and Herbert, it is soulful stringed electronic euphoria like Detroit’s finest, a timeless understated masterpiece.

With their live show they go old skool, using only analogue synthesisers and machines, not a computer in sight. Accompanied by their own self-generated images, they create an exciting and powerful experience....
