@maria-carmel: I have a friend from when we were in the Navy.  He is so good at this.  He can talk to anyone and get them to open up.  He has the most amazing stories.  I've tried to get him to write a book of short anecdotes of his encounters.  He says he's not a writer.  I love his stories about the people he meets though.

Like he told you his dad passed away and stuff, are they even allowed to talk to people casually like that wow! you converted a ticketmaster customer service call into a philosophical conversation! you blew my mind!
