DJ Chris Case was a regular at many Tokyo chill-out rooms in the 1990s, including the legendary Odyssey parties at Club Token. One of the older faces on the scene, he represented a connection between the psychedelic 90s and the psychedelic 60s, and he offered a lot of arcane knowledge when it came to music theory. 
Chris passed away last year, and I’m uploading this mix in his memory.. I don’t keep a lot of DJ mixes, but I’ve had this CDR for 30 years now, and remarkably it still played. I’m not sure exactly when Chris mixed this, but I would guess late 1995. Most of the music is from Silent Records, which was one of the premier ambient labels based in San Francisco in the 90s. The Moonlit Miles were a loose alt-Americana/ ambient country collective performing and recording around Burlington, Vermont around Y2K. The Old Loft was a rehearsal space/studio run by Fretless Ed, and many local musicians would hang out there on lazy Sunday afternoons, jamming and putting together songs. At some point enough material was collected to make a demo album to shop around to labels, but the constant turnover in the band and the slacker nature of the whole project resulted in that never happening. 
Fortunately, those 8-track reels were stored well, and cassettes circulared from friend to friend over the years.  Now we are pleased to announce the release of these archival songs and jams, remastered, edited, and mixed into a continuous 45 minute flow. Listeners will find this to be way ahead of its time in exploring alt-americana, ambient country, and more, referencing influences like Opal, Ry Cooder, Cowboy Junkies, Dan Lanois, and The Hired Hand OST..

DJ Samsara Bio:
Christian Borgmann also known as DJ Samsara is passionate psychedelic trance and chill out DJ from Denmark. His first contact with electronic music was back in 2003 and later on in 2005 he entered the scene of psychedelic trance, which immediately caught his fascination and quickly became a huge part of his life. 

After some years of attending to several parties and festivals around Europe, he decided to go behind the decks himself. In 2008 he got his first gig and have since then he have performed at various parties and festivals in- and outside Denmark, such as Freqs Of Nature Festival 2012 & 2013 (Germany), Voltron Festival 2012 (Turkey), Tangra Festival 2013 (Bulgaria), Hadra Festival 2014 (France) and many more.

In 2011 he joined his forces with his good friend DJ Furvus and together created their first charity compilation (VA – Conversation Bewteen Two Trees), which got released in 2012 on the non-profit label Critical Beats. They both agreed, that this compilation shouldn't be the last of it’s kind, so later in 2012, they started to co-operate with another charity/non-profit label (Random Records), who released their second charity compilation (VA – Raindance).

He is currently representing different psychedelic trance and chill out labels, such as Damaru Records (Germany), Vantara Vichitra Records (India), Random Records (Spain) and Altar Records (Canada).

A little note on this mix,

I’ve decided to separate out the ambient sound journeys from my dreamtime diaries series, into their own space, as I find myself increasingly drawn towards this style of music & sound healing. For the most part, these will be deliberately shorter, with the specific intention of helping you sink deeper into the meditative space for a little while.

If you prefer the more uptempo chill then you will be pleased to hear the dreamtime diaries series will continue as normal, focusing on psybient, psychill etc. It just felt like time to give the more ambient journeys their own home.
