At B.A.D., we’re committed to uplifting voices from the whole diaspora - this is something we aim to reflect with the series, with a particular focus on those who have flown under the radar so far, alongside mixes from some more familiar names.

To inaugurate the new series, we are truly honoured to host a mix from techno founding father, Detroit native, with a career spanning multiple decades: Eddie Fowlkes (@detroitwax). For those who are not aware,  the last 2 years of my life have been spent in the Texas Department Of Corrections on possession charges. I was released this past August (2011). 
It was quite a learning and growing experience, and feel blessed to be free and alive again.  This is sort of a celebration of just that.  Hope you enjoy!!

Mystic Bill - Time Release

In Hour 2 it's Brame & Hamo from Sligo, Ireland and currently based in Berlin, who have expertly produced some of the most effortless house music of the last few years via their first imprint Splendor & Squalour. In 2017 they launched their eponymous second label with the Trants EP to critical acclaim. Their latest EP “Celebrity Impersonator” came out last month and they had this to say about their mix;
"It has been ages since we have put out a mix, and it’s a pleasure to join the Solid Steel series as it is one of our favorites and has shaped who we are as artists. This is a good account of the tunes and style we play when we are out at a gig. It features a few rare gems, and some unreleased but forthcoming productions of ours. We hope you enjoy!”

For the past few years Kim Ann Foxman has been brewing a club cult following across the globe; crisscrossing everywhere from Japan to Cologne and Chicago she’s established herself as one of the most sought after DJs and artists on the house scene. Splitting her time between her home base in New York City’s East Village and her globetrotting schedule she’s released a single, Creature / What You Need as well as a raft of great remixes. She brings her loyal dance followers to the floor with her infectious, soulful DJ sets that intoxicate dance floors everywhere. After collaborating with Hercules and Love Affair for two albums, she decided to part ways to choose her own musical adventure.

MUSIC PROGRAMMING

Bill's move to Chicago in 1988 was crucial in the development of his DJ & Production career. Growing up in Miami, he had been involved in various parts of the music industry, from working at Flamingo Record Pool (run by Bill Kelly of WMC Fame), to playing guitar for the band "Life In Sodom" (80’s Synth/Goth Band). His interest in both House & Industrial music inspired him to make his move to the Windy City, and as far as timing, it couldn't have been any better. Bill quickly became involved in the night scene with residency at clubs like Shelter Nightclub, Crobar, & Smart Bar. Bill is a key figure in Chicago’s second wave of House & Techno producers. He’s considered an big influence by Dj's like Black Madonna, Kink, Axel Boman, & Matrixxman. His styles vary from current Detroit Techno & Chicago Acid, to rare House & Italo Disco tracks. Currently he frequents clubs like Panorama Bar in Berlin, and holds a weekly residency, as well as a monthly in Miami.



PRODUCTION

His studio work began with a remix of Kay Ladrae's “Lack Of Love” with Vince Lawrence, followed by a string of releases, including an LP on Trax Records. He has worked with numerous Chicago legends like Darryl Pandy, & Shay Jones (Ministry) to name a few. He has recently relaunched two record labels with a string of releases lined up till next year. His current releases include La Vida Sigue Igual EP on Dark Entries (Savage Hymn alias), a new EP for Chi Wax records, as well as several re-issues. Current remixes include Hannah Holland - Come Correct (Get Up Recordings), Kiddy Smile - Teardrops In The Box (Defected Records), Tres Manos - Can't Stop The Future (Cyclo Recordings), Clemm Abbot - Get More (Foreign Language Records), Lavish Habits - The Theme (Audiophile Deep), & Hieroglyphic Being - The Warning (Children Of The Box).
