Detox Unit releases his debut, The Abyss. Joseph Roberts provides an experimental and chillout dose of fresh and captivating sound design which furthers one into a hypnotic state. Fueled through heavy bass, synthesizer magic, enigmatic dub, and percussive leads, all four tracks takes the listener into a psychedelic journey through unique composition. Prepare to flourish into an elevated state of being through intriguing melodies, glitched-out frequencies, and dope vocal samples which create a unique blend of existence.

From a dimly lit cave in Austin's own underground, Joseph Roberts, aka “Detox Unit”, has been cooking up his own blend of futuristic frequencies for the past 4 years. His aim, to make the imagination run wild; to tickle the brain in impossible ways. Originally hailing from New York, Joseph spent his childhood tinkering with old radios and building computers, fascinated bu the near endless possibilities that they presented. Inspired by artists such as Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Monolake, and Luke Vibert, he picked up a copy of Ableton Live and a myriad of synthesizers and hasn't left his cave since. Now 4 years later Detox Unit has become a familiar and loved name in the Austin experimental music scene known for his intricately woven sets and unique productions.

Night has fallen in the desert. You peer up at the star-studded sky, taking a dusty breath through a bandana you bought during your last trip to the Orion Nebula, winking at it as it hovers above the east horizon. You're approaching an indigenous tribe, gathered around a large fire, performing an organized ritual. Two central figures play the flute and didgeridoo while surrounding members whisper prayers and sway handmade rain sticks. You pull your energy goggles down over your eyes and see sparkling blue and white geometric waves emitting from the crown of the collective tribe, traveling upwards into the grid of the atmosphere. This is a Rain Dance; a plea for the water that is needed to survive on this planet called Earth.

A single drop of vibrant turquoise falls and sizzles in the center of the fire, creating an opening into the physical dimension. This is the manifestation of the people, a visual affirmation of their abilities to tune into the frequency of the grid, as more drops of water permeate the dimensional barrier and fall to the dust. Before long, it is pouring, and a spiraling flow of energy rages between the people and the sky.
