1985- When I was just Treefrog (the MYSTR came later) and even before Ed Arnold and I had a drummer or bass player we went in Carlos Garza's studio in Arlington (Sound Logic) to record our nascent madness. It was a rather bleak period for Ed because he was just diagnosed with Hodgkins disease, and was pretty ill. We recorded to try and keep our spirits up. A lot of what we came up with (with Carlos' expertise) was wild. We had this track and others played on WHFS before we actually had a live unit. This song also features my (future) wife Shana doing the Consumer report. 
This is the only song Ed and I co-wrote the lyrics to by passing a napkin back and forth. DISCO SUCKED THEN, and it STILL SUCKS NOW. This was our comment upon that sad non-musical phenomenon .

1985- Fear of the 5th Finger/Shock Opera
It was in bleak cold February when we recorded this one. Eddie was very ill- the chemo treatments for Hodgkins was numbing his fingers so he couldn't feel them. The day we went in to do the tracks Ed really wasn't into getting out of bed-but he did. This spooky, sparse, haunting song was the result. This is Ed's writing, I only added atmosphere with my backwards harp and some background vocals.

Casa Mia (E.A.Arnold)

This should have made it onto Mer De Mente, but there was no space left. I regret that because this was recorded and mixed at the zenith of Shock Opera's tightness and discipline. 1993 . We were practicing/writing at least 4 nights a week. I consider this one of Eddie's best songs and among Shock Opera's best studio recordings. THIS version was rescued and remastered off an old cassette tape.
