Vanir Rising is a roots reggae dub concept album that tells the mythic origin of the Vanir — ancient Norse gods of earth, sea, and sacred magic. Born in harmony from the fertile realm of Vanaheim, the Vanir lived in rhythm with the natural world, guiding the cycles of life with wisdom and song.

But when their peaceful ways clashed with the war-driven gods of Asgard, a divine conflict broke the balance. What followed was not just war — but a battle between two worldviews: one rooted in domination, the other in harmony.

Through bloodshed, ritual, and ancient unity, peace was forged. Freyja, goddess of love and seiðr, chose to remain with the Aesir — not as a captive, but as a bridge between two realms.

In this second track from Tama-nui-te-rā: The Dub of Time, Māui and his brothers begin their spiritual journey east, traveling across sacred land toward the place where the sun is born each morning.
