this weekend is the 20th anniversary of one of the most beautiful gatherings that i have the privilege of being a part of. 

DUNYA
a community family gathering on a gorgeous property, curated and nurtured with love and care for decades now. so many friendships started and deepened, so many reunions, so many moments shared. one of the most receptive and vibey dance floors i have ever played for. 

in honour of this auspicious occasion i am sharing an extended version of my set from last year. i was inspired to re-record it after hearing the recording that was made in the room, i spliced in the first couple of minutes of it to give you a little taste of the energy in there.

So many artists are being affected by this covid-19 pandemic, this is my passion, but it is also my career, and that part of the journey is on hold for now. I am unsure how this virus is going to effect my appearances over this next while, as so many have already been postponed. I will do what is best, for my health and for all of yours. Very much including mental health. 

KEEP DANCING. Mental health is so important to keep in check. Take care of each other, even from afar, and remember to keep dancing, even if it's just you in your living room. 

So in lieu of the in person sets, I put together for you guys the next in my "Stick to your Guns" series. This ones longer, and definitely a journey. I ask that you dance, release what needs to be released, and take in what needs to be taken in.

Back to the mix. 

Where are my roots as AppleCat? What aspects have stayed with me despite interchanging styles? What gives me that unique tingle when I hear it?

Multi cultural sounds, deep fairytale bass, erotic undertones, Classical/Cinematic beauty, magicks, - and motherfucking cosmic carnal dubstep. My intention is to create and share a mystical and primal underworld dance - then, to have us all come out the other side moved in some way - the kind of movement that is far beyond solely somatic.
As such every so often, maybe once every 8-12 months I craft a "Stick to your Guns" to remind myself -and anchor me- where I know my alignments are strongest.

So without further adieu, here is my 9th instalment.

Sage-ing like a Wolf

Hjeron O’Sidhe
Theatrical Director Hjeron O’Sidhe began working in the performance arts at a very young age. 
He was honored to receive personal tutelage in Celtic and Native American cultural mythology and storytelling over the last 15 years, and over the last 10 years in central and South American mythology and cultural studies. While living in London he studied photography, lighting techniques and video. 
During and after collage he founded “Sacred Earth Studios” a portable digital recording studio dedicated to ethnomusicology and the preservation of traditional sacred music from around the world. At the same time he composed the music for several bands and theatre productions touring eastern and central Canada. Feeling limitations in the music genre Hjeron returned to his roots in theatre forming Mythmaker Productions, a theatre company dedicated to re-empowering the ancient arts of storytelling by blending creative and performance arts of all genres.
Since 1999 Hjeron has written, directed, acted and composed the musical scores for 12 performances pieces focused on storytelling, movement and cultural/community empowerment.
