The name "Ragz" is a derivative of Celeste Ragland's last name. She is the only girl out of 5 siblings, all of which go by some form of the name Rags, which is a nickname given to their father first. Since she is the only girl, she is Mz Ragz!  Ragz is and has been a Secondary Level English Teacher since 2000, a Writer, Music Connoisseur, Scholar, & More. She has graced several stages with her Spoken Word and published a book of poetry entitled "THE DOPE SHOW: Episode One." In addition to her book, Rags is also the founder of a Men/Boys Mentoring group and workshop/seminar program in Jersey City. She volunteers in various community events in Jersey City, including food and clothing drives, fundraisers, mentoring young women, and teaching free Creative Writing classes, as well as a Civics class. She is a college graduate with a BA in Journalism and English. She will graduate in March, 2014 with a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona.
