hi my friends happy october and welcome back. i cannot believe we have reached 20 mixes, another wonderful milestone. in the grand scheme of things that isn't much but considering i never planned these mixes, it sure is a big step forward. in the tao te ching lao tzu says, "when the work is complete, it is forgotten, and that is why it lasts forever." the irony of that is that i have found after releasing mixes, they tend to come back to me in the form of thank you's, comments, shares and more recently direct messages of people expressing their gratitude. although i may be leaving the work alone, the people are keeping it alive. i am beyond words because that is precisely the tao in action. this passed weekend i spent 3 days off the grid in the mountains in the middle of nowhere and what i came back with was it is ok to rest and how vital it is to our health. so often i find myself in a battle feeling guilty if i'm not being productive and what the desert taught me is it's ok to have lazy days. if you're feeling overwhelmed or overworked...simply take a break. thank you all for your continued support, the love is more than i ever could have imagined.

happy thursday family. join me for mix 27 as we continue learning about the path of love as said by baba ram dass. i've listened to this lecture so many times and a certain part finally made sense to me lol. funny how that happens...you hear something a million times and then boom one second to the next you HEAR it. that is how it happens, that's how it all happens. you don't need to "do" anything. enlightenment of all variety can dawn on you at any moment. enlightenment doesn't have to be some grand achievement, it's something we can find and experience in every day regular tasks. those "aha" moments are all around if you listen closely and remain open. it's currently 1am and i write this in total peace, happiness, inspiration and calm.

hi friends, happy october, i'm so happy that the winter months are finally upon us, it's my favorite time of year :D
it's been a productive month on my end spending time producing tunes and finally sculpting a sound that i'm excited to share with you soon. 
when i first started releasing these mixes i was doing 2 per month to keep up with the "algorithm" but now as the time has passed i've come to a happy place where i release when it calls me. i know if i constantly bombard you with mixes, they will be just that...mixes. but if i wait till i have a calling, i know they will speak to you the way they speak to me, and to me that is most important. i dj and practice almost everyday and this music continues to reach a part of me that releases me. with all that said, i wanna share with you that i went on a journey a couple nights ago in my bedroom and the main point that came to me was you can't make anything happen. over and over i kept hearing "you can't make anything happen." the funny thing is with reading the tao te ching, this concept is repeated constantly throughout the text but it finally dawned on me. what we must do is allow, rather than to try or to force. that doesn't mean we be lazy, it just means we do what we must, do what we're called for, and step back...or rather, keep moving forward without attachment.

hi friends, welcome to mix number 38. this mix is particularly special to me because it features one of my original tunes, 'time for change'

this tune is even more special to me because it is a collaborative effort between my homie wez walker and i, who is from london, while i reside here in california. 

and thirdly this tune is even morrre special because it was released on one of my favorite labels that i aimed for, mathematica records from russia.

i say all that to say, manifestation is real. physically writing down your goals and dreams is real. meditation and visualization is real. prayer is real. you really can accomplish what you want in this life. you show up enough times and consistently put the work in and you will eventually become. you will eventually arrive. and if for some reason you don't, the person and character you built in the process will be equally satisfying. i've failed so many times but those "failures" have made me the man i am today, who i love. i wrote down i would do a track with wez and that i would some day release on mathematica and only 12 short months later here we are. who would've thought i would hit two birds with one stone. and on top of that, wez and i have become great friends. the irony is when i got word 2 of our tunes had been signed, i was in portugal, which i ended up in by meditation. 

sit with silence my friends and live with faith. there's more than enough water in the ocean for us all.

Liquid Drum and Bass Mix #38

hi everyone. mix 42 here we are! 

before you all jump in, there are two components about this mix i want to mention. the courage of perseverance and the importance of rest.

while sifting through tunes for this mix, time stamping them, and determining what order to play them in, for whatever reason i had such a difficult time. i couldn't find the right songs to put together and they seemed to not be flowing like i wanted them to. searching for the transitions also proved to be a difficult task. but i stuck with it. determined to at least decide on the tracks, i finally found what made me happy. i didn't give up and i succeeded. perseverance.

secondly. after i found what would become this mix, i called it quits for the evening and got some rest. if you're anything like me you know how difficult it is to be pulled away from your work. especially once you hit what the taoists' call "flow state." when i'm in the zone it is nearly impossible to get me to stop. but as we're always reminded, stopping is just as vital as continuing. over pour a glass of water and you leave no room for it to become filled again. sometimes we think we need to keep going and going and going until the job is complete that we end up burning out and making mistakes. but pulling away, regaining our focus and energy, we're able to return refreshed. it is all important. it all goes hand in hand.

keep going, but also know when to stop.

Mzcl x Alpha Rhythm Guest Mix #3

happy december everyone. welcome to mix 45.

we're finally back to the cold holiday season that I love so much. being here in southern california the temps can be so hot and brutal but our winter months are absolutely perfect. I am sitting here at my desk looking out the balcony to beautiful mountain and palm tree views. 

I am so happy and honored to announce that in this mix I have 2 of my solo tunes. next month in january will be 3 years since I uploaded my first mix so to now have my own music playing with all the guys i've been inspired by is surreal. not only are two of my tracks in this mix, but I had the pleasure of releasing them on the prestigious brazilian label DNBB which was a dream come true. since my last mix, these passed weeks/month was full of high notes seeing two releases for me. my first solo on DNBB, and a collab with subrix on mathematica records. it felt nice to return to the label with such a talented well embraced producer in our community. subrix has had a huge impact on me so to make music together was also a dream come true. if I can be honest it happened through meditation. what I was given in silence was able to manifest itself here on our plane. there's something special about sitting in a quiet space and allowing yourself to receive. we are all worthy of everything our hearts long for. I can't stress enough to make silence an everyday part of your journey.

before I leave you to it, there is another thing i'd like to mention here, and that is the power of yoga. for years on end now I've been wanting to practice yoga. to go to a studio and really take a class. bikram hot yoga to be exact. after listening to dr wayne dyer mention it for so long now, I finally acted on it. a couple days ago I signed up and attended two nights in a row. all I can say is wow. truly wow. to stretch my body for 90 minutes in postures I never knew in an extremely high temperature sauna felt so liberating and healing. I've never sweat so much in my life. the first night midway through the class the instructor said "if you give up here, you give up in life." that really stuck with me. to put yourself through such a difficult task reminded me that we can accomplish anything. we must always keep going. when we overcome difficult tasks, everything else is a walk in the park. after a month of having a weird aching, pulling on my heal, the pain is gone. and this morning I woke up free of back pain. if this happened after only two classes, I can only imagine the benefits to come. mental health, spiritual health, and physical health...it is all one.

Liquid Drum and Bass Mix #45

hello my friends, my family, my mezcal moons. welcome to mix 47. i am so thrilled to be back with a new lesson. in this mix we showcase the peace and wisdom of the beautiful gangaji. her soft voice pairs so well with liquid and the deeper side of things i am honored to introduce you if you haven't already heard her lectures and what her heart has to offer us.

'prayer' in particular is what she touches on here. no matter what religious or spiritual background we come from, we all know the importance and power of prayer. i once read somewhere that if prayer is talking to god, then intuition is god talking to you. both equally important sides of the same coin.

no matter which direction you choose in communing with your god, it doesn't matter if you call it prayer or not. our faith in our ability to connect with our natural higher source that lives within us is the vital lesson here. the vital action. 

when we go deep in our meditation and ask for things, when we write our goals and desires down, when we practice manifestation and visualization, when we kneel knees down, when we wish for certain events and outcomes, when we simply have hope in a future we want to create for ourselves. these are all forms of prayer. 

as i sit here writing this, i can attest how powerful prayer is in my life. all my life I've been an artist, I've been a creator. i have stacks of notebooks on notebooks on notebooks that I can read now, and in retrospect, I can now see I am living the life I always dreamed about. what ever it is you want to do, what ever it is you dream of, you can do it. there is nothing in this world you cannot do. I truly believe this. 

interestingly enough, half way through my bikram yoga session today, the message i received by "intuition" was that I can accomplish anything. and if any of you have ever practiced bikram hot yoga, you know it can be rather brutal to say the least....yet so rewarding.

believe in your self and believe in your source. don't be afraid to talk to god, or the tao, or the universe. talk to that energy always. engage with it. make it a part of your everyday life. you don't have to wait till things are falling to pieces before asking for help. yet as we all know in the moments of suffering and desperation is when we're closest to that spirit. suffering is grace. but so is the ordinary mundane of routine. invite the tao in on all levels.

April was filled with productivity getting my own music ready. I'm happy to announce I've made it on to two various artist compilations. one in Spain and one in the United Kingdom. April also consisted of attending the world famous Coachella Festival which was absolutely inspiring to say the least. 3 days of non stop action with friends and family. 

the month of May brought more music production and the opportunity to release two guest mixes for other youtube channels. one in Germany and one in the United Kingdom. they proved to do rather well and the love & support has been phenomenal. I still find it so amazing to be touching people around the world from the comfort of my home in southern California. May also brought an opportunity to play a show an hour away from me. being in front of a crowd can always be nerve wrecking but always so rewarding. as more time passes I intend to play more shows. who knows, maybe one day I can meet some of you in person. 

a side note to all of this, I've still kept up the diligence of daily meditation, reading, juicing, bikram yoga, silence, minimizing food intake, working a full time job, and most importantly...resting. I can be so dedicated that I have been known to drown myself in my work. as an artist, we strive to enter that flow state, so when we do it can seem like nothing else matters. I am guilty of this. but just like our beloved tao says, "when tao comes to you, ride it for all its worth."

cheers everyone. welcome to mix number 50! wow what a wonderful milestone. thank you so much to you all who tune in on these journeys with me as we listen to drum and bass music while simultaneously receiving a small dose of philosophy and spirituality. I am very grateful for the community we have created here together. I've come to realize that those of you who are here with me are really here for the benefits of what these mixes provide. Someone commented on one these mixes once and said, "it doesn't matter how many subscribers or followers you have, jesus only had 12 disciples." I guess in other words...those who know, know. haha.

I want to share with you this passed week I got to play TWO shows! I played my first festival called "Love Long Beach" in Long Beach California, which is 2 hours away from me. It was a very special show because I was booked by the people who I seen play in august 2019 that really shifted my perspective and transformed my life. it was truly a dream come true and a manifestation come true.

the second was a popular venue called "The Bassment" which is a venue that is underground. literally. it was for a highly sought out night which they do on tuesdays called "Space Taco." this took place in Pomona California which is an hour and half away from me. The guys who booked me for this event live only an hour away from me yet found out about me through my friend in portugal. funny how that works, its such a small world haha.

keep pushing forward guys. keep taking action. and most importantly keep taking time to rest and do nothing.
