hi my friends happy october and welcome back. i cannot believe we have reached 20 mixes, another wonderful milestone. in the grand scheme of things that isn't much but considering i never planned these mixes, it sure is a big step forward. in the tao te ching lao tzu says, "when the work is complete, it is forgotten, and that is why it lasts forever." the irony of that is that i have found after releasing mixes, they tend to come back to me in the form of thank you's, comments, shares and more recently direct messages of people expressing their gratitude. although i may be leaving the work alone, the people are keeping it alive. i am beyond words because that is precisely the tao in action. this passed weekend i spent 3 days off the grid in the mountains in the middle of nowhere and what i came back with was it is ok to rest and how vital it is to our health. so often i find myself in a battle feeling guilty if i'm not being productive and what the desert taught me is it's ok to have lazy days. if you're feeling overwhelmed or overworked...simply take a break. thank you all for your continued support, the love is more than i ever could have imagined.

hello my friends, it's been a long month but i am very happy to be back. as some of you may know i spent 2 weeks in europe, in porto portugal and alkmaar netherlands all for the purpose of our beloved drum and bass. words cannot describe the experience i had and i've come back so inspired and happy to continue sharing my love with you all. i met a lot of great beings, made new friends and learned so much. the fear of leaving my home, my family and my dog to step into the unknown wrapped itself around me but i embraced it and took action anyway. friends, please find what terrifies you and throw yourself in. you truly can accomplish any and everything. everything you are looking for is on the other side of fear and self doubt. anything is possible with meditation and action. move forward. i look forward to today and to tomorrow. thank you for being here

Mzcl x Alpha Rhythm Guest Mix #1

welcome back my friends, welcome to mix 37, which will also be our last mix for 2022. next month will mark 2 years that we began this journey and i can't begin to express my gratitude enough. sometimes i feel a simple "thank you" isn't enough, yet i'm always reminded of the great poet rumi when he told us..."if there is only 1 prayer you say throughout your entire life, make it 'thank you.'" 

this entire last month of november i have had many very powerful experiences that showed me how much my spiritual journey has deepened. i was shown how much i've changed over the years. i was shown how much i've grown over the years. i was shown how healed i am. i was shown how happy i am. i was shown how open my heart is. it is simultaneously beautiful and scary. to know that you do not carry hate in your heart is terrifying. to touch someone so deeply and bring them to tears by simply being yourself is terrifying. 

my ego tells me to question everything and ask why. my soul on the other hand reminds me to breathe and to relax. when you constantly remind yourself that the only time is now and the only place is here, you remember that you are exactly where you need to be. to let go of the past & the future is to live by faith and put your trust into nature, into the way, into the tao. walk towards your fears and become liberated by the miraculous uncertainty we're presented with every morning we get to open our eyes again. 

what has happened to me has shown me that what i've touched on the other side is real; yet we're always on the other side so at any moment it can happen. do not look, do not try. just be.

i say all this to say...open your heart.

hi friends, welcome to mix number 38. this mix is particularly special to me because it features one of my original tunes, 'time for change'

this tune is even more special to me because it is a collaborative effort between my homie wez walker and i, who is from london, while i reside here in california. 

and thirdly this tune is even morrre special because it was released on one of my favorite labels that i aimed for, mathematica records from russia.

i say all that to say, manifestation is real. physically writing down your goals and dreams is real. meditation and visualization is real. prayer is real. you really can accomplish what you want in this life. you show up enough times and consistently put the work in and you will eventually become. you will eventually arrive. and if for some reason you don't, the person and character you built in the process will be equally satisfying. i've failed so many times but those "failures" have made me the man i am today, who i love. i wrote down i would do a track with wez and that i would some day release on mathematica and only 12 short months later here we are. who would've thought i would hit two birds with one stone. and on top of that, wez and i have become great friends. the irony is when i got word 2 of our tunes had been signed, i was in portugal, which i ended up in by meditation. 

sit with silence my friends and live with faith. there's more than enough water in the ocean for us all.

Liquid Drum and Bass Mix #38

welcome to mix thirty nine my beautiful people. about two years ago in december 2021 i found out the meaning of life. that meaning is love. 4 days ago i had the opportunity of being reminded by that amazing truth. love is the answer always. sometimes love takes effort, other times it is effortless. sometimes it is painful, while sometimes offering its bliss. love can be foreign and love can be familiar. at times love can be so strong that it separates us only to pull us back together. other times it is indifferent. it is happiness. it is laughter. it is sadness. it can be terrifying. love can be found in the most beautiful places while simultaneously in loathed places. love is communication. love is silence. love is in a smile and love is in touch. 

to quote the tao te ching, "after a quarrel, some bitterness remains. but a man who closes the gap and ends on love is truly a man of tao."

love is the answer always. open yourself and see how it transforms you. let your wall down and see what comes in. run towards it and watch it run towards you. give it that chance. take the risk. to love is to risk, but to not love is to also risk. it is all risky. love yourself first and that will enable you to love those around you. to love yourself is not selfish, it is to accept the tao, god, the universe or any other name you wish to call it. 

to love yourself, to forgive yourself, to love others, to forgive others is to touch the divine. love authentically. love hard. love unconditionally. and when that love isn't reciprocated, simply love anyway.

sit in silence every single day and activate the fourth.

welcome to mix 41 my friends. once again i’ve had the opportunity to travel across the ocean back to europe all thanks to our beloved drum and bass music. 

from southern portugal in faro, to northern portugal in porto, to barcelona spain, where i now await for my flight and off to holland for liquicity festival and then amsterdam netherlands. 

i can’t begin to explain what these passed few weeks have been like. essentially having no plan and wandering around allowing myself to float along with no care in the world. i’ve learned the importance of being prepared but also taking life as it comes. being responsible is an amazing trait but to let go is equally rewarding.

i found out again there’s nothing i can’t do. nothing you can’t do. nothing we can’t do. being alone in barcelona…becoming ill, questioning myself, second guessing myself, and yet still powering through, i proved that to myself. accepting it is what it is and having the ability to make the best of it. not necessarily knowing the language yet still communicating. adaption. 

the theme of this mix is wu wei…effortless action. acting without acting. i made it across the ocean because i left my front door, but i collected these experiences and these words by following the direction i was inclined to pursue. 

if you’ve followed my mixes and read these descriptions, you’ll see there’s always an underlying matter. life is simple. life just is. but it’s our conscious critical thinking mind that tends to introduce complication. 

i wish you all the understanding of life taking you where it will once the day is all said and done.

Mzcl x Alpha Rhythm Guest Mix #3

happy december everyone. welcome to mix 45.

we're finally back to the cold holiday season that I love so much. being here in southern california the temps can be so hot and brutal but our winter months are absolutely perfect. I am sitting here at my desk looking out the balcony to beautiful mountain and palm tree views. 

I am so happy and honored to announce that in this mix I have 2 of my solo tunes. next month in january will be 3 years since I uploaded my first mix so to now have my own music playing with all the guys i've been inspired by is surreal. not only are two of my tracks in this mix, but I had the pleasure of releasing them on the prestigious brazilian label DNBB which was a dream come true. since my last mix, these passed weeks/month was full of high notes seeing two releases for me. my first solo on DNBB, and a collab with subrix on mathematica records. it felt nice to return to the label with such a talented well embraced producer in our community. subrix has had a huge impact on me so to make music together was also a dream come true. if I can be honest it happened through meditation. what I was given in silence was able to manifest itself here on our plane. there's something special about sitting in a quiet space and allowing yourself to receive. we are all worthy of everything our hearts long for. I can't stress enough to make silence an everyday part of your journey.

before I leave you to it, there is another thing i'd like to mention here, and that is the power of yoga. for years on end now I've been wanting to practice yoga. to go to a studio and really take a class. bikram hot yoga to be exact. after listening to dr wayne dyer mention it for so long now, I finally acted on it. a couple days ago I signed up and attended two nights in a row. all I can say is wow. truly wow. to stretch my body for 90 minutes in postures I never knew in an extremely high temperature sauna felt so liberating and healing. I've never sweat so much in my life. the first night midway through the class the instructor said "if you give up here, you give up in life." that really stuck with me. to put yourself through such a difficult task reminded me that we can accomplish anything. we must always keep going. when we overcome difficult tasks, everything else is a walk in the park. after a month of having a weird aching, pulling on my heal, the pain is gone. and this morning I woke up free of back pain. if this happened after only two classes, I can only imagine the benefits to come. mental health, spiritual health, and physical health...it is all one.

hello everyone happy new year! i hope this holiday season found you well and in perfect health. this mix is special because it brings me to my third year of releasing mixes. 3 years ago today I decided to take a chance and try something new. I would have never imagined so much was possible and we'd come this far together. for every one of you who have taken the time to listen and write me has made all this viable. in the greater scheme of things I realize 46 mixes in 3 years isn't very many compared to other channels, however taking the additional time to source the absolute perfect lectures to place within the music for you guys cements the community we've built. not to mention the opportunity to appear and contribute 7 guest mixes across other channels and outlets...soon to be 8 next month :) 

quality over quantity I believe is the old adage.

on top of all this, my own production of drum and bass music has elevated to a place that lives beyond my expectations. as much as I would like to drop more mixes, music production itself takes a world of time, and I'm happy to say that is where my focus goes. it blows my mind to now have my own tunes signed to labels I once only dreamed of and have collaborations with peers I'd never thought I'd meet or work with. for example, I start this mix with a collaboration with subrix that we had signed to mathematica records. when I first began all this he was one of the first artists I found, and mathematica was one of the first labels I found. i was so inspired by his tunes and what this label was putting out, I could not have fathomed with my rational mind 3 years to the day we would be here. yet another reason why I endorse so strongly finding a silent spiritual practice in our daily lives. meditation, faith, silence, believe in oneself, action, rest, health, tao. I am living proof that miracles exist on our physical plane.

thanks to my older brother, drum and bass music was given to me as a kid. as an adult it transformed and revitalized my life. it gave me purpose. multiple times it has taken me across oceans to visit new countries and see so much more of what this world and life has to offer. 

I challenge you to become disciplined and see what happens. every day is a new day. we don't need the start of a new year to make a change. 

out of nothing comes nothing and out of nothing comes something. everything that currently exists was once only imagined.

hello my friends, my family, my mezcal moons. welcome to mix 47. i am so thrilled to be back with a new lesson. in this mix we showcase the peace and wisdom of the beautiful gangaji. her soft voice pairs so well with liquid and the deeper side of things i am honored to introduce you if you haven't already heard her lectures and what her heart has to offer us.

'prayer' in particular is what she touches on here. no matter what religious or spiritual background we come from, we all know the importance and power of prayer. i once read somewhere that if prayer is talking to god, then intuition is god talking to you. both equally important sides of the same coin.

no matter which direction you choose in communing with your god, it doesn't matter if you call it prayer or not. our faith in our ability to connect with our natural higher source that lives within us is the vital lesson here. the vital action. 

when we go deep in our meditation and ask for things, when we write our goals and desires down, when we practice manifestation and visualization, when we kneel knees down, when we wish for certain events and outcomes, when we simply have hope in a future we want to create for ourselves. these are all forms of prayer. 

as i sit here writing this, i can attest how powerful prayer is in my life. all my life I've been an artist, I've been a creator. i have stacks of notebooks on notebooks on notebooks that I can read now, and in retrospect, I can now see I am living the life I always dreamed about. what ever it is you want to do, what ever it is you dream of, you can do it. there is nothing in this world you cannot do. I truly believe this. 

interestingly enough, half way through my bikram yoga session today, the message i received by "intuition" was that I can accomplish anything. and if any of you have ever practiced bikram hot yoga, you know it can be rather brutal to say the least....yet so rewarding.

believe in your self and believe in your source. don't be afraid to talk to god, or the tao, or the universe. talk to that energy always. engage with it. make it a part of your everyday life. you don't have to wait till things are falling to pieces before asking for help. yet as we all know in the moments of suffering and desperation is when we're closest to that spirit. suffering is grace. but so is the ordinary mundane of routine. invite the tao in on all levels. 

i pray you find prayer.

Good morning everyone! I hope this mix finds you well and in perfect health. I woke up inspired and energetic and decided I'd try something new by recording this mix for you in my backyard. Every morning I begin my day with sitting outside in silence, then reading and having my coffee. It was such a peaceful start I didn't want to go inside and start work...so I brought work outside to me. 
 
In the current book I am reading, this popped off the page so here it is for you,

"Merging and dissolving into the natural elements helps us to go beyond ourselves."

This reminds me the importance of going outside, getting fresh air, sun gazing, and enjoying the sounds of nature. It is very easy to get caught up in day to day activities that we never bother to go outside. There is something healing about nature as we all know. And even more so, something healing about the mornings. This morning I observed a humming bird flittering around with no care in the world. At some point this humming bird has to search for food, then eat the food, then eventually find a place to settle and rest. But for now it was just enjoying itself. And so it is with us, we have a million tasks to attack daily, however, we should always make it a point to flitter around and do nothing for the sake of nothing. We all have responsibilities, but sometimes it is nice to put those aside and not be responsible. 

Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh. Om, mani, pedme, hung. The pearl is in the lotus. Sound comes from silence. Something comes from nothing. 

1, I am breathing in. 
2, I am breathing out.
