So back in the day I remember seeing her name on every flyer. I played here and there in and around dc and Baltimore. She was on every flyer so much so that I assumed she also lived in DC. It turns out that Anita is hailing from NYC and REPRESENTING from Queens. All these years later and Anita is still killing it. We're very lucky to have her on the show and I know you guys will love this one. Big respect to all the bedroom DJ's and  Big up all of you!

American Junglist #26 Anita Magenta

Honoured to have the opportunity to put together this mulit-genre set for Gaia Fest in August. While I mostly play jungle dnb, I have listened  broadly for years. This set contains many of my all-time fav tunes spanning well over a decade from across reggae, uk funky, ragga breaks and halftime dnb. I was inspired after catching Interplanetary Criminal at Bass Coast so threw in some newer ukg tracks to keep things fresh.  

Some fun things about this set include a pure lover's rock reggae tune from the one like Shy Fx and a slower tempo cover of Original Nuttah remixed by DJ Madd. I own a lot of the ragga breaks tracks on vinyl but had to dig deep for the digital versions. For example, I fulfilled a request from Gaia Fest promoter Paulo Cardoso for Superstylin' by Groove Armada by reaching out to Ed Solo and getting a dub of the breaks version of that iconic tune. Thanks Ed! 

I tried to record on the day, but mercury retrograde was not having it so this set was recorded after the fact. I threw in some extra halftime dnb tracks that I didn't play during my actual set but to me at least continued the logical progression in tempo and complexity towards dnb.
 
So grateful for Paulo and Lark for the wonderful community gathering that is Gaia Fest. Bonus points for being able to bring our boys! Picture a beautiful summer day dancing by the lake with your friends and family to your favourite tunes. It really was perfect. Already looking forward to next year!

I met this weeks guest at EDC Orlando over the summer. I met him briefly before he played and thought he was such a nice dude. Then he got on the decks and fucking rinsed out EDC. It was impressive. That whole night was really special. 
Over the next few episodes, we will be featuring Florida Drum n Bass and I'm really proud to share this one with you. Please welcome  Stereotype. 
  He is a DJ and producer from Miami with musical roots that reach down to Colombia. His music and DJ mixes have been featured on BBC Radio 1, Drum & Bass Arena, Bassdrive, Flex.FM, SWU.FM and most recently on the Hospital Records Freshest Drum & Bass Spotify Playlist. He’s released music with labels such as Formation, Technique, Intrigue, CODE, Driven AM and Celsius among others and played on stages across North and South America as well as Europe and the UK and most recently was a featured artist on the DNB stage at EDC Orlando.
He is co-founder of Stank Love events in Miami.

Spinning, throwing jams and running borders since 2000, Mz. Revolution brings the wikkidest sound to the massive. Always keeping her selection fresh, her crates span the bass music spectrum from jungle, dnb, footwork and uk funky to the freshest grime-jungle.

Starting DJing and promoting in Ottawa in the early 2000s, Mz Rev held down Ottawa's Chicks with Decks and was the main organizer of Ottawa's original graffiti art parties, Beatz and Piecez. Beyond rave and club gigs, she played graffiti jams, rock climbing competitions, protests, rooftop parties and was resident DJ for Carleton University's vegan soup kitchen, the Garden Spot/the G spot;)

Knowing music could take her further afield, in the mid 2000s she toured across Canada, reaching from Whitehorse to Vancouver to Halifax. During that time she also represented the fresh sounds of new school Canadian ragga jungle in Europe, dropping tunes in the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Highlights included headlining for Let It Roll in Prague, playing in Amsterdam on the 60th anniversary of the Canadian liberation of the Netherlands and playing bass so loud it shook dust from the rafters of factory where the Sputnik (the first satellite) was built in Tallinn, Estonia.


From 2008 - 2012 she promoted Konkrete Jungle 613, and kept the jungle fires blazing in Canada's capital bringing in Canadian and international talent for monthly shows. 

Jungle luminaries she has played alongside include Aries, Nicky Blackmarket, Liondub, Marcus Visionary, Rene Levice, Krinjah, Ladylite and many more. 

In recent years, Mz. Rev has focused on her job as an energy researcher and raising two little junglists who say "play the bass and drum mama!" Her side hustle is importing and selling Swiss-designed sacred geometry glassware. Very thankful to be living in a time with such incredible music at her fingertips, Mz. Rev keeps up on the latest jungle dnb releases, does the occasional Twitch stream and posts mixes to her Soundcloud. She may be available for select domestic and international bookings.
