Luca Lozano, owner of Klasse Recordings presents this majestic 4 track EP on Optimo Trax. Inspired by the past but sounding the antithesis of retro. In his own words....

"The Optimo Trax EP was born out of a time when I was listening to a lot of old Bleep House and Rave, early 90s UK stuff. Growing up in Sheffield I was lucky enough to spend some time in Warp Records when it was still a record store and being around this music and the people that made it must have somehow embedded itself into my psyche. Listening to pirate radio stations like Fantasy FM as a teenager helped shape my musical interests as they are today and I guess this EP is somehow a reflection of that education, I wanted to make a collection of music that sounded like it was related to a certain place and time and in effect confirm my own identity within its context."

JETS sophomore official release, their highly anticipated debut on ULTRAMAJIC see’s the two artists display an approach to production that deals in the paradoxes and ambiguities of both studio songwriting and raw live performance; a somewhat soothing amalgamation of disproportion, But also weirdly right, evident that despite Edgar and Stewart’s careers sharing striking parallels, they have know each other for…well forever. 

The 4-track EP reassembles a long-scattered sketchbook of songwriting confidence that the pair have filled with drawings of cosmic rhythms, experimental sounds and other analogue obsessions.

“Our first record was more of us finding out space and creating a new environment of sound to work with.  This release was much more about exploring the building of our creation”

“U-N-I’s’” colour and pallor coming as much from the soulful palette of Jamie Liddell’s vocal performance as the dirty turps the pair washed their synthetic brushes in.  

JETS production finesse, awash with a delicate nocturnal mood as analogue drums meet colorful chords against a nightscape of glossy darkness. 

We spent a lot of time on the sounds, which were mostly from digital hardware sources.  We also focused on the recording process more than ever, as we mixed the record on mastering equipment and experimented with bouncing parts onto tape.

The sounds that often many attribute to Jimmy or Travis as solo artists are slowly transpiring to be the opposite, their respective contrasting styles not only behaving with vibrant influence over one another but in turn establishing an exciting benchmark in electronic music songwriting.

Coming July 24th from Mello Music Group, Time? Astonishing! is the latest dimensional warp from hip-hop’s premiere astral traveler. His union with MMG producer L’Orange finds him exploring uncharted terrain: choppy volcanic rock planets, ice glacier moons, new surgical procedures, and fresh rappers to toss into the ether. The scalpel remains eternally sharp.
 
Even a flying DeLorean seems too conventional for the Bronx legend. He’d more logically orbit throughout the galaxy in a gleaming chrome spaceship, teaching the stars and aliens new forms of originality. He is too weird to live, too rare to die, too uniquely ultra-magnetic to be accurately mimicked.
 
L’Orange’s production appropriately coaxes the most appealingly baffling gonzo vision from Keith since his days collaborating with Dan “The Automator” Nakamura. This isn’t the noir-rap of L’Orange’s previous work, but something atmospheric, ethereal, and absurd.
 
Yet there’s a sense of tradition within the playfulness. The beats glow with radioactive grit. Hard enough to knock from your car speakers, cinematic and plutonium-propelled enough to transport you to strange terra firma. Buck Rodgers movie serials meet boom-bap. And along for the odyssey are a cast of the best underground MC’s of the last decade: Blu, Open Mike Eagle, Mr. Lif, J-Live, and more.
