Covidsations Part 1/ Denzel Washington

Covidsations Part 1/ Denzel Washington (Prod. Enyer Gonzalez)

Ntandoyenkosi Laurent Manyoni also known as N-Tida is a musician from Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal striving in the South African underground Hip Hop scene. Apart from music N-Tida is a son, a brother, an uncle and a UKZN undergrad student focused on obtaining a Bachelor of Education degree. 
After matriculating, N-Tida took a gap year and worked at a local supermarket (Mackson Supermarket) in Estcourt to try and save up funds for varsity while deciding on which course to take. That was the same time he also got an opportunity to focus on his musical career. In 2019 N-Tida released his Extended Play (EP) Happy Endings that earned itself a very good spot in the music industry. The following year (2020) N-Tida released “Impilo eGrand” a song that was getting notable recognition. However, that was the very same year of the Covid-19 pandemic, which that led to a worldwide lockdown. 
N-Tida like everyone else is a self-conflicted person. On Covidsations/Munchies Pt. 2 he voices out the inner conflicts that rise during his thought making process elicited by the Covid-19 pandemic. To better represent the diverse train of thoughts, N-Tida used a different blend of voices to impersonate the different thoughts that were in conflict. These thoughts are also represented by the following names Laurent, Mjita ofuktup, Tida and Ntando. 

Verse 1
Laurent: Is characterised as law abiding, honest and very much aware of the current situation faced. However, afraid of taking full control due to the fear of being ridiculed upon taking responsibility and fails to deliver. This is evident when Laurent says “I don’t wanna catch corona virus, but this lockdown is making me violent. Last time in church was 10 years but lately I’ve been clutching on the bible.”
Mjita ofuktup: Is characterised as the oblivious, egotistical, inattentive and very much unaware of the danger that comes with the ignorance. The situation faced is taken very lightly because the decisive process is driven by lust. Evident where Mjita ofuktup states “I swear it feels like 2019 March alone has been a year, trapped indoors gadda quarantine even my girl can’t make it here.” 
Tida: Is characterised as focused, ambitious, very observant, aware of what is happening and sympathetic towards it. Tida has goals and as much as he has not achieved most of them, but he has not forgotten how hard it was to get to where he is right now. Evident where he gives us a flash back of how things went down while working at Mackson “That’s nice life problems bro I had to cancel the shows, I can’t even make any dough. By the way it goes, I wouldn’t mind going back to Mackson’s to be scrubbing the floors.”
What follows is the Chorus/Hook of the song Covidsations/Munchies Pt. 2 which takes our attention away from the conflict. But at the same time makes a statement on its own. Here N-Tida Expresses his frustrations and unlawful acts that he might turn too, should the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions continue to mess with his bread, even after the lockdown. Notable where N-Tida states “Don’t you ever touch my food after a session…I ain’t a killer but I swear you might get shot”

Verse 2
Ntando: Is characterised as an ambitious scholar, who has invested time on furthering his educational qualification status but at the same time making some extra money the side from his customized clothes printing business, however, has been crippled by the Covid-19 pandemic. Evident where Ntando states “I’ve been, tryna make a milli in a second so I’m selling all these branded T’s.” 
Covidsations Pt. 1 speaks more about the external challenges N-Tida has encounter building up to the Covid-19 outbreak and Covidsations Pt. 2 speaks about the internal inner conflicts N-Tida faced during the pandemic.

Who is N-Tida: Full name Ntandoyenkosi Manyoni, lives in Forderville, Estcourt. Before music, he was a great visual art student, played football and rapping was just a hobby. But he started taking in serious in grade 10(2012). When he recorded his first ever song at Speto Records, at a close friend's home.

What influenced him the artist to pursue Hip-Hop:
Growing up in Forderville, which had group's like Silent Trigger, Vince Dee and Dala greatly influenced N-Tida to become a rapper.

Musical career:
He is a member of an independent music company/group in Estcourt called Dark Horse Music. In 2015 under the company he recorded a mixtape titled, Only Time Will Tell, with 14 songs.

which came out number #2 on the local radio station (Ukhahlamba FM. 93.4) under the song of the year category.

What are you busy with in 2019: N-Tida is currently at UKZN furthering his studies for a B.Education Degree. There is a project that he is currently working on that will be released soon titled Happy Endings. Which is a 5 track E.P.
