Summary: The track is a melancholic tune that talks about how someone is missing someone after they left. I decided to do this track  which I consider a change from my more ridiculous tracks that I’ve done so far in both PROD and PROW. 


Differentiation:  Its different in a way that I tried to add electronic elements. The song with acoustic instruments eg. Just the piano, drums, strings could easily help support the piece but by adding the other electronic parts such as a drum loop sequenced electronically, the plucks and pad which have been synthesised, it adds and fuses with the acoustic instruments to make the piece more emotional and melancholic 

Delivery: I set the mood with the electric piano which acts as the base of the song, slowly, I introduce the vocals which segue into the song. The drums kick in to set the pace and then I introduce the pluck melody, which enforces the melancholic tone. The strings are placed there to not only fill up the space but add as a base to the pluck which feels a bit empty without a pad. The other 2 pads come into play which I have panned a bit to add space but also to further add to the emotional vibes of the song. I remove most of the instruments except the piano and sub as a form of transition but to prevent the song from being too monotone before adding the drums back to close out the song

PROW PT 1

Summary: This track is a upbeat song which is about discovering something or someone that you hold dear to you, going through thick and thin with them, and when you feel down sometimes,  realising how being with them makes you actually happy.

Differentiation: It sounds like a typical EDM song. I did however, adjust the format, putting the drop as the first part of the song instead of starting with an intro and slowly progressing to the drop. The first drop, transits to the ‘verse’ which begins to segue into the typical EDM progression. However, I threw in a breakdown just before the 2nd drop for added tension and buildup. 

Delievery: The start of the song has the main melody which is slowly filtered in to set the mood. However, I added the filtered bass as well to support it and give the intro some ‘backbone’. It goes into the ‘drop’ which is basically a huge explosion of all of the elements of the song which I wanted as to set the mood of the song, that it was going to be upbeat from there on. I used the ‘whiny’ synth to transition into the ‘verse’ of the song, which was basically most of the main elements of the song, but filtered to stage the quietness, a contrast to the bang of the drop. After that, we modulated a bit and ‘unfiltered’ the rest of the elements to show the progression to the 2nd part of the song but also to make it more interesting as looping the same thing over and over would result in a v boring song. It goes on to result in a quiet part again as I filtered out everything once again to create tension before the 2nd drop which one again brings all the elements together.

Summary: Mellow track for a quite sian week. The track is kind of a representation of my thoughts and feelings for the whole HBL week and all. 

Diff Factor: the drum pattern changes around multiple times throw you off the slow and reptitive beat. Which kind of stands out a bit from your typical loft hip hop track as they make use of other elements instead to hold your attention instead of just remaining a droning on loop.

Delivery: I took a piano sample and basically built the beat around it, adding certain delays and tremolos to create the leftover sounds which serve as the ‘breaks’ in the song. Also at the last part of the song, I reversed the entire piano loop as a way of rewinding the whole ‘story’ back to the start, also for the cool effects.  The sub bass served as the bass and made sure the piece didn’t feel empty.
In all, its quite simple but I think the piece does work so yea

Summary: i got bored of doing chill stuff so heres some drum and bass/neurofunky thing. I found it fun doing this track cause I just threw out all the restrictions and limitations I normally had on myself when doing songs and just decided to 'yolo' it and see what i get

Diff factor: Some of the fills are chopped up and combined with other fill samples to get a whole fill that sounds like an actual one

Delievery: Start off simple with the drum beat, add the bass to support the groove. The fill comes in the 4th bar to signify a change in the song, which I then add elements such as the guitar, synth and keys. The fills also serve to keep the attention and prevent the drum loop from being too boring. Finally the last part is where a neurofunk-like bass comes in, as its very aggressive, I kept it there and did not add any other elements

Summary: the song is about a trip to a rainforest and all. I added and layered pads along with birds chirping to simulate the sound and ambience of a forest, bringing out the tranquility and peacefulness of it. 

Diff Factor: No chords are being played. Every pad is a single note being played out. The fullness heard is from the layering of pads and appropriate pitching of the single notes

Delivery:  Song starts off with the samples of the forest ambience and of birds chirping. The first pad is introduced which slowly comes in to preserve the calmness of the sample. 2nd pad which acts as the bass is introduced to add the fullness. Forest and bird samples have been panned to give it more space. Slowly, the 2 'vocal' pads are introduced into the mix to add and give the pads more personality. Overall, the song helps to convey the feeling of calmness and peacefulness.

Summary:  Track is basically a piece of reflection of sorts. Its very simple and so on, but I've layered the main instruments along with FXs to help bring and convey those cliche classical orchestral moments.

Diff Factor: The track is not a conventional track and all and has its FX placed at off beats to enhance the effect of it.

Delievery: Track first starts off with a simple melody which is layered upon by a complimenting melody. Sounds of both are different to differentiate and create layering. Bass is added upon it with the marbles moving effect and orchestral sounds added in the following bars to get the listener's attention and add onto the overall sound.

Summary: This track is like this week's prow, it signifies the end. The intention of it is melancholy, and also to look back at the stuff I did and reminisce on them.

Diff Factor: the violin is used interestingly, once as a sweep transition and the other as a 'moving' pad to add to the sound.

Delivery: The piano lays down the chords and sets the mood.Enter the drums and plucks to let the song flow. Guitar counter melody is added to balance the thing out and give it character. It goes back to the piano and repeats in structure, however newer elements are added to the song to keep it from staying too stale.
