Akuratyde is a musician driven by a passion to create, and has spent his life expressing his talents in a variety of mediums.  He also runs the label, Modern Conveniences, which focuses on the melodic side of 170 bpm, and includes a roster of incredible artists delivering music that is heartfelt, emotive, and memorable.

Based on the West Coast, Akuratyde has drawn his inspiration both from Southern California’s breathtaking panoramic landscapes and from personal struggles that have served to make him a deeper, stronger artist. Akuratyde’s goal is to make music that strikes an emotional chord in his listeners. Incorporating his affinity for reverb-soaked synthesizers and dreamy guitar riffs his music is the perfect mix of melodic hooks and immersive beats. He has created something that is simultaneously raw and passion-filled, with subtle beautiful undertones that are guaranteed to move the listener.

Flaco is a Drum and Bass producer/DJ who’s production discography catalog could rival some overseas producers.  Growing up in Florida he started writing tunes in 2000 when his obsession for Drum and Bass first started, then moved to the west coast where he resides in San Francisco, getting incredible inspiration from R&B, house, early techno, and soul.  His aim is to get people on the dance floor and once you hear his tunes, his productions do just that. Flaco has signed music to over 20 international labels including Innerground, Good Looking, V Recordings, and Co-Lab, to name a few. Flaco has an extraordinary style of production and is one of the best Liquid producers coming out of America.  His personal dubs are not to be missed.

You know Calculon. His gargantuan beats have been destroying dancefloors for a decade, pushing the envelope at jungle, juke and hardcore parties around the globe. Classic tracks like “Fierce,” “Back the Fuck Up,” and "Ben Carlos" with Dave Owen have been cained on BBC Radio, RinseFM, and by dance music dons like Rockwell, Om Unit, Toddla T and Digital, while his label Shoot Recordings is continually on the cutting edge of uptempo sounds. Shit, he’s rocked from Tokyo to Fabric in London, circumnavigated the world twice, but who is Calculon really? How did this handsome California lad become such a motherfucking behemoth of bassmusic murder? Why do A-list producers line up to work with dude? And where in the hell is he taking dancefloors next? Let’s be straight: you may think you know Calculon, but you haven’t seen nothing yet. 

His label, Shoot Recordings, is a showcase for the new bass music sound being born out of juke, jungle and hardcore. Free from expectations and committed to innovation, Shoot Recordings is a place for producers to push the limits of bass music, upend the patterns of established sounds and create something new. And then shoot it in the ass and do it all again.

This interview highlights Polaris!

While Toronto has long been known for the grittier side of drum-n-bass music, the Romanian-born, classically trained Polaris brings an altogether different sound to the fore. At once melancholy and hopeful, jubilant and wistful, he has forged a musical identity that elevates drum-n-bass, on a cinematic scale. After rising in the ranks of the Toronto DnB scene, he entered the global awareness in 2016 in grand fashion. Since then he’s released on labels like Inner City Dance, Technique, Med School, Hospital, Pilot, Flight Pattern, 170+, and UKF. On his own, he’s put out such classics as “The Light In Your Eyes”, “Blue Sky Thinking”, “Distant”, “Empire”, “Lessons Learned”, and “Love Letter”. But he’s also collaborated with artists like Keeno, Stranjah, Nelver, Ritual, and the legendary Makoto. His most fruitful collaborations have come with long time friend Schematic, with whom he’s created a number of landmark compositions, including “Please Don’t”, “Bring the Heat”, “Conduit”, and “Inner Vision”, among others. Polaris remixed Whiney’s “Spheres (feat. Keeno and Pippa Violents)”, and “Well That’s A Switch” for London Elektricity, who said of Vlad, “He spends a lot of time on each track...when they’re finished…they’re absolute gems”. Gems indeed.
