It was a real honor to be able to play the long-running SF weekly WERD. before Otis changed owners and the future of the night was uncertain. Big thanks to Nick Williams, ZOZ, and Kimmy Le Funk for having me out to play! It was also a treat to share the bill with WERD. co-founder, Brandon Wade, who also played that night. Most of the crowd had been at the Sunset season opener all day so I figured it would be low energy, but the dance floor was packed and jumping until the end!

An annual tradition for me, I really enjoy going back through the year and compiling my favorite songs, thinking about what I listened to most and revisiting records I may not have heard so recently. I try to keep the genres very broad, my only rule with these mixes is that it can fit on a single CD, so it can be burned and listened to that way if desired. Much of the music was pulled with my late sister in mind, and playing this set felt like "closing the loop" in many ways. Riding the natural high of a magical weekend, enjoying the sunshine on a walk down the block, I rescued a George Benson LP in the dollar bin and decided to make a quick mix to celebrate the good weather and good vibes. We've lost a lot of real ones lately, so this is also my homage to some of the greats. We all know Prince, but Billy Paul was a sad one for me as well, and while many people probably know the tune "Sun Goddess," many don't realize it featured Earth Wind and Fire as the band, and was produced by the late, great Maurice White. Timeless music sounds fresh forever, here's a few that I think will stand the test of time, enjoy :-)

Playing at Chillits 2013 was an honor and privilege that I will never forget.  The community came together to create a truly special event, with wonderful people, beautiful lights, excellent music, and all during a heat-wave that had everyone scrambling for shade during the brutal daytime temperatures!  Thank you to everyone on the Chillits planning committee, all the other DJs and performers for sharing their art, and of course everyone that attended and made the event really special.

Sadly, the recordings from Friday night seem to be lost to the ether, so I've re-created my set as best I could remember.  I didn't take notes so it may be a little different at the end, but it was such a treat to play that I wanted to capture some of the atmosphere from that night to remember.  :-)
