The Psychic Liberation show aims to document and recount information through conversations with artists working within sub, and sometimes countercultural, connective musical or otherwise creative communities. This is a template worthy of reflection as we enter a further atomizing digital age wherein the role of in-person connectivity is actively subverted and co-opted by convenient social interfaces. This program aims to create a model by which inspiration and information can be pulled from and applied to aiding burgeoning communities regardless of form, content, or make-up.

Hugo Esquinca produces actions and conditions utilizing audio electronics at excessive levels of amplification. His work has been presented in different contexts such as Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), National Centre for Contemporary Arts NCCA (Moscow), Fondazione Antonio Ratti (Como), Ujazdowski Castle for Contemporary Arts (Warsaw), Ploschad MIRA for Modern Art – Siberia (Krasnoyarsk), A4 (Bratislava), Goethe Institut (Athens), MAYHEM (Copenhagen), Aalto University (Helsinki), BEARS (Osaka), Haus der Kulturen der Welt and Berghain (Berlin).

Recorded in Naarm, ’Shell Of A City’ reframes the architecture an instrument, in a concrète procession.

Durational contact recordings of a highway’s substructure reveal an unearthly resonance.

The continuous physical phenomenon is gently processed to explore the fringes of electroacoustic practice with a contemplative urgency.

The 40 minute arrangement pairs two channels of site-based improvisation into a time-altering minimal structure.

Many people wrote to me to say ‘A Liquor Of Daisies’ tape was a tool they used for rest. How precious. ‘Shell Of A City’ follows in its path.

I carve out space for listening to the discrete and lesser noticed.

Member of HTRK and co-creative director of the VR-enhanced Ghost Train, Jonnine Standish utilises episode #4 to soundtrack the experiences of thrill, mystery and energy using a series of blended sounds.

In Ghost Trains, old theme park soundtracks, carriage screeches, passenger screams, sparks, sirens and mechanical clanking meld with background audio from a series of long forgotten Instagram stories, all boosted in intensity by an underlying soundtrack of techno and experimental electronic music.

Nada is pleased to present Kindohm - Mesabi Range. Our 22nd release is a collaboration with fellow Minnesotan Mike Hodnick aka Kindohm, where algorithmic funk meets crisp ice cold synthesis and elastic timings. 

Mesabi Range is perhaps Hodnick’s most hard-hitting release to date with the disorienting hyper-abstract geometries of IDM and footwork being obvious departure points.  A common motif are the lush textures and club-over-the-head rhythm of tracks like opener “a-code.” Elsewhere, the mutated jungle of “d-code” and “b-code” exhibit corkscrew-like percussion patterns contrasting with the melodic landscapes of “dubious triangle.”

All music was composed and produced with the TidalCycles coding environment using samples and live synthesis over MIDI. The samples and code files are included in this release for you to explore and use.

About the artist:
Kindohm is Mike Hodnick, an artist, composer, and software developer from Chaska, Minnesota USA. He has performed his unique brand of live-coded rhythmic permutations, angled sonics and textures at Algoraves worldwide. Mike received the Minnesota Emerging Composer Award from the American Composer Foundation in 2014.

Pauline Oliveros' Tara's Room has long been a favorite in the Imprec office and it's a great honor to be able to release it on LP for the very first time. Tara's Room was cut by John Golden and pressed at RTI in order to achieve a quiet, dynamic pressing. Originally released on cassette in 1987 following the 1986 release of "Sounding / Way" with Guy Klucevsek which is also available on LP via Imprec. 

This LP features two long sides of infinite depth and sensitivity. Oliveros performs these pieces using a Just Intonation accordion and her Expanded Instrument System in order to bend both time and pitch. 


Pauline Oliveros, composer, performer and humanitarian is an important pioneer in American Music. Acclaimed internationally, for four decades she has explored sound - forging new ground for herself and others. Through improvisation, electronic music, ritual, teaching and meditation she has created a body of work with such breadth of vision that it profoundly effects those who experience it, and eludes many who try to write about it. Oliveros has been honored with awards, grants and concerts internationally. Whether performing at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., in an underground cavern, or in the studios of West German Radio, Oliveros' commitment to interaction with the moment is unchanged. She can make the sound of a sweeping siren into another instrument of the ensemble.

Les personnes rencontrées sont interpellées en leur disant qu’elles ont un truc bizarre dans l’oreille pour les amener à raconter, parler dans le micro le plus simplement possible, en découlent paroles et situations loufoques.  

Une réalisation sonore de Frédéric Marty effectuée lors du stage « initiation artistique et technique à la réalisation sonore », avec Arnaud Forest du 4 au 7 juillet 2019 à Arles.
