In October 2015, the "double-headed dragon" of Lanvary, ended their year in impressive fashion with the "Micromegas" EP. As Particles now returns to the debut offering, remixes from Australia and the UAE continue its development.

Australian rising star, Matty Doyle, has borne witness to a particularly noteworthy 2015. Building on a reputation that saw him work the clubs of Melbourne and London with considerable aplomb, his Matter production soubriquet has provided Doyle with a unique vehicle in which to display his maturing skills. As affable as he is talented, Matter continues to impress with a portfolio of material that includes appearances on Le Petit Machiniste, Balkan Connection and FutureForm. Indeed, it was for the latter that the "Spore" EP saw a hugely impressive remix from fellow countryman, Jamie Stevens, as well as going on to feature on the successful Visceral "Past Forward" series.

From a passion for "deep synth lines, driving bass and pulsating rhythms", a pair of remixes for Biologik and Dousk make up a sumptuous part of Matter's Proton Music recent catalogue, and it is with huge pleasure that we welcome him to Particles with a sublime interpretation of "Micromegas". A sublime, gently pulsating bass line opens proceedings, backed by strong beat and ticking percussion. An evolving and filtered pad add further depth and texture while a pitched down variation of Terrence McKenna's vocal sample references Lanvary's original work. Additional production material comes fully to the fore in extended melodic interplay and thought-provoking sequences, "Matter's Chasing Rainbows Remix" is a pot of aural gold.

Hailing from the opulent desert plains of the United Arab Emirates, Subandrio Sinhawansa is a producer who has burst onto the underground dance scene in 2015. An award winning Pioneer and PALME Middle East DJ in 2009 and 2013, Subandrio's pedigree is second to none. A regular on the DJ circuit in his home country and beyond, production prowess has seen almost a half-century of production credits to date, since 2014's "Silicone Oasis" debut for Lowbit and February 2015's "Fractured Moment" EP for Cid Inc.'s Replug imprint. Since then, Balkan Connection, Perspectives Digital and Juicebox Music have supplied the musical cognoscenti with a regular does of high-quality music that has cemented Subandrio's reputation.

Following up debut remix of Lateral Cut Groove for Particles at the back end of 2015, the Subandrio remix of "Moby Dick" is an elegant affair that revels in a grooved low-frequency synth line that carries the additional melodic material with considerable style. A freeform theremin-style lead line encapsulates Subandrio's innovative flair at the mid-point breakdown, while richly textured pads and gated melodies add depth and richness. A bright and punchy variation on the original, Subandrio's skill is in full evidence.

Continuing the erudite work of Lanvary in striking manner, Matter and Subandrio add another chapter to the "Micromegas" story.

Together from birth, two brothers united by their passion for music and more, Pongo is the latest sound evolution of Giovanni Bruni and Daniele Bruni. Growing up with a very similar musical culture, handed down in turn by their parents, the two brothers have always shared their art projects together. Giovanni started playing as a DJ in the early 2000s now enjoying success in the most famous clubs of the clubbing scene in Tuscany. Soon, his younger brother Daniele follows the same steps as supporting him in DJ sets and creating their first music projects together. In 2011, together with Luca L. and Elia C. founded the brand Yuma Recordings.In addition to the  label ,Yuma began to be known for the club event, Yuma Nights, and in 2013 the collective Yuma created the Vibe Club, a place that offered innovative sound in Italian nightlife. The brothers felt that they had to make their most personal productions, with which they can open up more towards a wider musical landscape.
 After a period of evolution in the studio in 2016, it's time to get back on stage for Giovanni and Daniele with their new Pongo project that takes shape with Giovanni on vocals. Their strong influences that fuses electronics, soul, and techno have created this new way of approaching the dancefloor: the combination of evocative song and a powerful and refined set.

Chicola - Yoav

The next Bedrock release is the result of a collaborative project of the highest order from three of the scenes most respected creative mavericks - Gabriel Ananda, John Digweed and Nick Muir. Their collective concept of electronic music ventures into a vast, unexplored field of endless possibilities and is the futuristic two-part Tachyon Dream. A year in the making, the project started with John (who is a massive fan) reaching out to Gabriel to see if he would be interested in working on a project together with Nick. Gabriel already had a demo in mind that he had started and the project was soon up and running. 

The adventuresome Tachyon Dream begins with a delightful hip-wiggling organic percussive groove overlaid with superbly funky keys, before evolving with abstract and uplifting melodies to introduce more driving Techno elements and soaring into a dreamlike finale. In perfect contrast John and Nicks Tachyon Dream Rework is an even more powerful, explosive beast. By upping the energy levels and introducing definitive acidic elements a sci-fi masterpiece is created, marrying the originals organic attitude with a more machine-like, technological vision from a mesmerizing, futuristic parallel universe. 

Gabriel Ananda is continually driven forward creatively by new experiences in music, evolving and refining his very personal style ever further, to discover and explore soundscapes that evoke their own desires, dreams and emotions. He is an expressive and unique artist, who, ever since his early releases via labels such as Hörspielmusik, Karmarouge, Treibstoff, Trapez and Platzhirsch Schallplatten, has rocked dance floors around the world, pushing the boundaries of the global Techno scene from his studio in Cologne, Germany. The output from his highly respected Soulful Techno label and its accompanying podcast series are always required listening experiences. Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir, producers of the finest electronic dance music, have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the years and have in many ways helped to define genres & continue to push boundaries further. Their partnership has been one of electronic music's most fruitful pairings, creating a body of work thats seen them become one of the worlds most highly regarded production duos. Joining their boundless creativity with Gabriel Ananda is yet another positive mission statement, showing that this trio of exceptional artists are not ones for resting on past laurels, but always developing themselves musically in exciting new directions. John and Nick are already working on a track (to return the favour) that Gabriel will rework and release on his own Soulful Techno label in 2018. 

For those of an inquisitive nature, a Tachyon is a hypothetical particle that always moves faster than light. Outside the realm of physics, this concept has inspired many writers of science fiction to develop exciting ideas regarding a means by which future humans will be able send messages backwards through time.

"Beginning with the tight, punchy beats and detailed design of the original mix it's clear the trio is operating at their creative peak. Fresh and dramatic across it's near eight minute journey, it's a sensory delight full of welcoming dance floor dynamics. As mounds of bass undulate, spacey arps add a mystical vibe, before vocal overlays further the narrative through ghostly meanderings. Building subtly, the beauty lies in the break, classy in execution and undeniably cosmic as clustered electronics, redolent arps and wispy wails converge in a perfect sonic marriage. And for the less vocally inclined the trio have also included a dub which carries all the astral qualities of the original.

The first interpretation of 'Never' is provided by Paul Anthonee who returns to the label for his fourth appearance. The Cyprus based artist last appeared on the Greek imprint in December of 2018 with his well received ëNemesis' EP. Also laying claim to releases on Beatfreak Recordings and Suara, Paul now returns to Movement Recordings with a stunning rendition of 'Never'. Fluid and crunchy in equal measure, it's a mix that drifts away from the emotive themes in the original, while adding an ethereal vibe through unique sonic artefacts and a wonky lead theme. Tension and drama come in waves as percussive flurries and industrial-like effects make for several dynamic moments leading into the break. The centrepiece furthers the storyboard as it's operatic tones build to a sonic sizzle before a powerful drop cues an exhilarating finale. 

The release concludes with Dousk returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Never'. The Greek artist has been a mainstay of the Movement Recordings roster since making his label debut in 2011. Widely regarded as one of progressive music's most creative talents, Dousk has showcased his work on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, Proton Music and Vapour Recordings. Now following a chart topping remix of 'X-Groove' by Lonya & Wally Lopez to end 2018, the Greek artist presents a stunning remix of 'Never' for his first production of the new year."

Bassic Records’ second instalment of ‘Labyrinth: Lost In Techno’ showcases the definitive and colourful styles of Australian electronic dance music, ever growing in popularity. Influenced heavily by nature and the unique dance events that take place in the great outdoors, the sound takes form as progressive and psychedelic jaunts of techno and house, driven by emotive storytelling.

The 14 track compilation comprises of label stalwarts Doppel, Gabriel Moraes, Ark-E-Tech, Rainbird, TAYA, EEEMUS, John Baptiste, Käse Kochen, Monotreme, Victor Y, and collaborators Nanoplex (UK), Waveback (IT), Mud (DE), Spintribe (RU), Diamandy (SE), Sandokan (IS), Charles Oliver, Biomass, Samwise, Mecca and Yokobus.

Sitting at an average of 125bpm, the compilation reaches a beefy 127 with ‘Spurge’ by Gabriel Moraes and is rounded off with the deep intricate closer, Mud’s ‘Mistakes’ at a neat 113bpm. Exploring an array of unique sub genres, some tracks can be identified as progressive techno, progressive house, psytech, deep techno, others are difficult to categorise into anything.

We call it ‘bush techno’.

This release shows Paul maturity and musical development as we kick off with the deep, hypnotic warm melodic layers of Medusa, interspersed with subtle effective percussion while the drop is filled with an indescribable wash of tension.

Dabeat uses the same endless tension that fills the original track and brings a memorable new melody after the drop to create a monstrous remix that will move every dancer on the dance-floor.

With his remix of Medusa, John Cosani pieces together a deep, warm, percussive groove that reveals energetic synth stabs and tension. Powerful and understated.'

[Liner Notes]
Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer Bora Uzer teamed up with Mynox and Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Vander to create "Let It Breathe". Birthed on a never-ending day of February in Turkey's dynamic city of Istanbul, this piece fuses elements of electronica, deep house, and modern pop. The lush vocals of Bora convey a certain epicurism and invite us to let go and accept life.

This EP is complemented by the alternative versions of psychedelic duo Pandhora, British talent Shunus, and Volt Milano residents Sound Shapes. Pandhora crafted a progressive & melodic reshape incorporating jazzy chords and upbeat grooves. Shunus came up with a different story, slowing things down with his downtempo sound signature and a relish of western vibes. To wrap up this release, the Italian duo Sound Shapes infused their remix with deep sounds and decided to go for a tense atmosphere which suits afterhours dancefloors perfectly.
