Rhymes of Praise

Rhymes of Praise was released in August 2008. This Nasheed album contains 8 uplifting nasheeds praising Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Also featuring Qur'an recitation by Shaykh Shah Mizanul Hoque. The nasheeds composed have no musical instruments and no musical instruments were utilised in composing the vocal harmonies. The lyrics and content have been verified by scholars in order to maintain the limits and boundaries of Shari’ah.May Allah Ta’ala reward the scholars who have given their valuable time in verifying our lyrics and content, namely Shaykh Hussain Ahmed, Mufti ‘Umair Zulfiqar, Shaykh Muhammad Sibbini and Shaykh Sulayman Ghani.


We thank Shaykh Shah Mizanul Hoque for his beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur’an and also brother Mujahidul Haq who has kindly done the translation to the verses. The translation of the Qur’an by Mufti Taqi Uthmani was utilised. We thank Gareth Redfarn for his valued suggestions and also for taking pain-staking long hours in recording, mixing and mastering the album. We would also like to thank the team at MuslimDot.com and Nasheedchannel.com our recording company for giving us the opportunity to help compile this album And last but not least we thank our parents, family and friends who have continuously given their support in making this album possible.

This track was live-recorded on a phone and shared by Sidi Rafae Azhar.  We were at an informal mawlid gathering in early April 2018 in my neighbourhood in Brampton ON, Canada.  After a few Arabic nasheeds, I was asked to offer something.  The Urdu/Punjabi speaking crew around me jumped right in enthusiastically, Masha'Allah.  It makes for a whole other singing experience when others join in with fervour and enthusiasm. 

We started off with a snippet of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's popular Punjabi qawwali "Saré Nabiyāń dā Nabi Tu Imām Soneyā", one of my absolute favourites, and then moved into "Jashné Amadé Rasūl".

There's no effects added here, and I've kept it live and raw.

This was originally rendered by my favourite Naat reciter, Ustadh Khursheed Ahmad.  From a recording of his rendition, the poet seems to be someone named "Ejaz", but I'm not sure of a last name.  If someone can educate me on that, I'd very much appreciate it.

My apologies for not uploading something for a while - preparing for, and receiving a new baby girl had kept me busy.  Insha'Allah, I'll try to be more regular with sharing more recordings.

An Urdu song in praise of the Prophet and well-known in the Indian subcontinent. Current rendition is based on a version composed by the Indian music director Ravindra Jain and sung by Mohammad Aziz for the popular 1990 Indian movie “Henna”. The familiar opening rubai was reportedly composed by Shaykh Sa’di Shirazi.
