“Took My Soul” represents the battle one has with oneself when that he or she loves another so much that they end up giving them their all.  As a result, that person gives so much, they end up giving up on their mental well being.  Many of us have been there at some point in our lives … in a dark place where sadness drowns our dreams, confusion spins our heads and hopelessness numbs our hearts … It is easy to say that we have to put all the pains and our pasts behind us so that we can move on but, the struggle can be more challenging for some than others.

 would like to dedicate this song to all those who are battling mental health issues.  Whether it be depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc.  I want this song to bring more awareness to Vancity about the mental health problems we have. Let’s stop sweeping it under the rug and face the truth! This also Includes the mental facilities, doctors and nurses in practice. We need to come together as one. Help our community. My cure is to start with music – the universal language that speaks to all.  I call it LOVOLOGY.

TOOK MY SOUL

Nadia is a vocalist of Trinidadian and Syrian descent. Born and raised in Vancouver, she is bilingual; competent in Arabic and English. Her passions and interests prove her to be a well rounded, spiritual artist. Born the 14th of May, “the characteristics of Taurus are solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will”.

From the age of six, Nadia loved to sing. For fourteen years, she was collectively involved in an array of choirs, including the Amadeus Touring Choir, the Surrey Children’s Choir, the Surrey Honors Choir, and the Vancouver Children’s Choir. Nadia is musically inclined due to more than her voice. She plays clarinet, piano and guitar. The skilled originator enjoys producing and creating beats for other artists and furthermore, has experience in voiceover work. She attended post-secondary school on music scholarship, where she studied classical music, majoring in contemporary jazz. She later studied radio and television broadcasting.

Nadia’s greatest influences include Michael Jackson, Ella fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Ledisi, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu. She admires musical theatre and Opera. Nadia dreams of traveling the world in order to spread love through her music.
