My new indie pop song "Going My Way" is about overcoming turmoils and welcoming new beginnings. Starting with a guitar hook and piano, the song turned into an international full band production. "Going my way" is about someone who is leaving a relationship that is not working, and feels stunned, and half crazy. While at the same time stepping out into the unknown, and seeking another day while trying to stay above the storm clouds. It is emotional, and yet hopeful. Thank you for being part of that project!

"A.L.E.X." is a pop ballad about a young man choosing the wrong path of life. The title is both a name and an acronym standing for "all lies excused with ecstasy", though ecstasy is a pars pro toto image. Written in my teenage years, this song has a special meaning to me, because its songwriting, arrangement and instrumentation was years ahead of my knowledge and capabilities. I had to grow up first to understand the real meaning of the lyrics. It's not a song about drug abuse. It's a song about self-rejection, pretending a better self and ending in a desaster. After 15 years of hard work, we were able to finish this song even better than expected. I'd like to thank everybody for taking this unbelieveable journey with me and turning my draft into a gemstone.

A.L.E.X. (feat. Roman Wreden)

"Pyromancer" is a fiery folk metal song about the conquest of a medieval fortress. Can something be more metal than fire, magic and a heavy wall of guitars?!

This song is what happens when weird ideas come to another and bring people together. The catchy melody longed for a hurdy gurdy and heavy guitars.  Jordan's power metal falsetto brought my pen and paper inspired lyrics into life. A rough demo of us two summoned Stephan and Simon, who handed in plenty of bass, mandoline and guitar takes. Ben had an idea for a violin solo I could never think of. We ended up writing and recording a metal song that may never existed, if we took ourselves too serious. We already had a videoclip in mind, but I grabbed my graphics tablet instead and drew the pyromancer with that evil grin on his face. 

Thanks for the joy you've brought to me. I hope you enjoy the song as much as we do! We wish you a happy new year - and now let the pyros go off!

Pyromancer (feat. Jordan Hirsch)

Turning frustration into a heavy waltz. "Wrench in the works" is an alternative metal song about psychological abuse. When you feel stuck, mistreated and just can't escape your situation it's like someone threw a wrench in the works causing the machine to stop and being unable to move. Ironically, this hypnotic 6/8 beat makes you want to move. 

"Wrench in the works" is the kind of song I could have never written intentionally. The heavy 6/8 drum groove combined with a minimalistic chord progression and a catchy riff in a weird scale just happened. Topic and words came just in an instant. I am happy that Chad replaced my clean and whispery vocal sketch with heavy screams of frustration. He wrote a guitar solo and got super wild on every instrument. Hell yes, THIS is the sound of frustration with a glimpse if hope in between. We had tons of fun and I just can't thank you enough for the super cool interpretation of one of the heaviest songs I wrote.

On a Sunday morning, I created a jazz melody in a weird scale and struggled a lot with harmonisation. Luckily, Andrew jumped in and arranged a piano trio which has been inspired by Charlie Parker. We played some collaboration ping pong and ended up with a comfy and happy jazz mood. It's been the first time I dived into jazz. It's been complex and fun. I learned a lot. About two years ago, I joined a German group of songwriters and music producers on Skype. After some sessions, 8 of us decided to write a song together that should represent each of us and still be a consistent piece of music. This is not an eask task, since everybody has a different musical background and performs different instruments. I handed in a piano theme, but I left the direction completely open. Each of us wrote a part or added a new instrument resulting in a progressive rock opera consisting of multiple chapters. "Angel In Jeans" is a song for our everyday hereos. Invisible to most of us, they contribute their time, knowledge or money to the society. When I wrote these lyrics I felt like I had something to say. You don't have to be a hero to do something good for others.

Musically, "Angel In Jeans" started as piano pop song with Caitlin's angelic voice. But the more synthesizers I added to the arrangement, the more it longed for a guitar. Garry spiced it up with a touch of funk. Thanks for the collaboration!

Have you ever been too shy to confess your feelings for somebody else? "Don't tell me if it hurts" captures this struggle. 
I was randomly paired with singer-songwriter Nate Gerry, who wrote the lyrics and looked for somebody to compose a song. When sent me his lyrics, I had absolutely no clue about style, phrasing and harmonics - I did not even know what kind of music he enjoys! Right after reading his story, I was inspired to compose a hell of a pop rock ballad. After sending him a rough demo, we decided to turn it into a full band production. I am lucky, that I AM MEADOWS lend his vocals, guitars and bass to make this song come to life. Thank you both for turning a little idea into a big song!

We revived 2000's nu metal and spiced it up with fresh synthesizers. Some situations in life are so worse, that here is only one question left: Where does it end? This is the title of my banging metal song about not being able to deal with your situation properly.

The complex rhyming scheme of the lyrics just happened together with the broken arpeggio. It's the first time I added a synthesizer to a metal song. Suddenly I had the strong urge to slice and destroy it and it sounded so cool, that it became the post chorus. Recording this song, we all left our comfort zones and it turned out heavier than we expected 😎🤘🏻

Life is overwhelming and demanding. This is a song about healing your heart space. This music conveys the need to stay rooted. To feel and heal. Taking a moment to breathe into the present moment and breathe out unforgiveness. Making the space to forgive... to heal... to grow. Kate couldn't think of a better instrument to convey that resilience than the Armanian duduk. I enjoyed arranging and producing a song far beyond my comfort zone, that put me into the state of meditation. Thanks for taking me into this journey!

"Mr. Tumbleweed" has been composed in an add-a-track challenge during Summer. I started with a drumbeat, The Fishermen & The Priestess added guitars, Patti Fetz added a synth bass, Cheslain followed with vocals and lyrics and Floral Tops completed the quintett with synthesizers. This song only consists of 6 recorded tracks (guitar is doubled) but I applied some production voodoo to make it sound big. Thanks for joining this fun game - I love our result!

"Fit right in" is an anthem for the different. You are precious the way you are - No matter if you're an individualist, outsider, loner or weirdo. There's no need to fit right in! Go, pick your people and make something great. The lyrics consist of various things and situations that don't fit into a scheme, and are wonderful though. When I wrote the lyrics and composed this song, I knew I had to ask David and Kate. Thank you for turning my little draft into a big ballad with a strong meaning.

"Hero" is both a love song and a song about wanting to leave a mark somewhere, perhaps a legacy, however indiscernible it might be. It's about wanting to be something like a heroic presence for someone dear, at least in some way, at least for one person, to leave special mark on them. Be a part of what ever world comes after us, even if unseen. There's a lot more purpose to our story than what's here for us in the here and now. In some way it reflects on that, towards not so readily undervaluing our presence in this world, however limited it might seem at the time.

Our "Disco Blues" take you back to a sultry club in the 70s. We mixed 70s disco beats with blues rock, creating a new genre. The song deals with an ominous relationship between two people in a disco bar. We started with a 12 bar blues progression and added plenty of instruments and licks. Let's get funky!

Lucas was directly connected to my composition and said everything, I couldn't express in words. Reach out to your friends in these difficult times. Dust is a song about leaving things behind to enforce personal growth. Pondering about your past, you can become blind to your present and the growth in between. This emotional dust has to be blown off the surface. Stop negative self talk and realize, that the things you did in the past have been done by your former self. Accept, that there is wrong about it and that there is no way to change certain decicions. Though having the same goal, the person you are today may solve things differently.
