Famous for featuring the crème de la crème of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene, the mighty San Francisco-based powerhouse Roam Recordings releases its first EP of the ongoing revolution around the sun: The suitably titled “Dance Therapy”, by rising & shining Colombian artist Nicolás Saavedra a.k.a. Kabinett, treats our ailments with two out-of-the-box originals and three magnificent remixes made with love by none other than Hardway Bros, Zillas On Acid, and Jason Peters, the label honcho himself.

With well-received appearances on Internasjonal, Kaputt.wav, Playground, Sonido Moderna, Boite Music, Discos Platino, and Duro, just to name a few, Nicolás has established himself as one of the most interesting acts of the current South American electronic music soundscape by delivering a colourful output filled with references from many a genre of the past, twisted and adapted to the modern taste of the audiences out there.

Premiered here, Zillas On Acid’s take on “Catching Up With Reality” comes embedded on, guess what, an insurmountable amount of acid, the specialty of the boys. In a time in which a faster-and-faster pace reigns on the dance floor, decreasing the BPM of an original for a remix is a bold move. That’s exactly what Thomas & James did: The 122 to 110 drop turned the theme into a completely different experience and added an extra procedure to the successful therapy.

Berlin's youANDme teams up once again with Namibian vocalist and poet Black Soda for 'Believe' - a stunning, dub-infused deep house tune that immediately caught our attention. The original features a crisp groove work, underpinned by a pulsating bass and overlaid with warm synth textures and melodies that blend perfectly with Black Soda's otherworldly vocal performance - all tailored into an arrangement that's sure to satisfy dancers and home listeners alike. The originals are backed up by a stripped-down Dub that’s unmistakably made for the dancefloor, and the beatless Sea Of Strings mix for ambient listening pleasure. And as if that wasn't enough, the package is rounded off with some brilliant remix work. Rising South African DJ and producer Jackson Brainwave stick to the original vocal arrangement while masterfully transforming the tune into his signature Afro-House and 3-step style. Last but not least, Moodorama delivers the goods with a classic US-inspired dub house workout reminiscent of some great offerings from Ron Trent's Future Vision imprint - but with a modern twist.
