Blue Ribbons - This song was created to address the difficulties of being black in this so called, “land of the free” majority of African Americans live in. This agenda created red zones; within them you hear gunshots at 2 am, there are frequent sirens and helicopters flying overhead. Blue on black acts of violence is normal, so much where it becomes numbing. It’s a cycle of no work, no food, no hope, combined with a lack of education and activities for the youth, that then steers us into criminal activity. No perception of life or path towards success is built into the culture. At birth the color of your skin defines you and makes you a target. Any mistake that you make trying to get ahead can lead to capital punishment. But now you have people taking the law into their own hands and acting as judge, jury and executioner. We’ve seen these executions unfold in the streets right before our very eyes with instances of Oscar Grant, George Floyd, Alton Sterling, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Rayshard Brooks, Philando Castile, the list goes on. It is critical that we stop this today. No longer will I be silent, I will make my voice be heard my voice will be heard. I hope this song inspires others to use their voice as well.
