I usually keep a word or sketch journal. I am experimenting with a music journal. Each song reflects where I was at, at that moment and I use it to experiment with some different instruments and effects. Minimal editing - just getting down my feeling and thoughts. Some contain sounds from wherever I was at the time of writing. It is a great experience documenting a moment with a short piece of music.
