"2024 is a year of experimenting. I'm bringing some Arabic into the mix."

Raised in the vibrant city of Amman, Jordan, by a German-Syrian mother and a Palestinian American father, NAJATI was blessed with a global upbringing. He grew up trilingual, and reached advanced levels in the piano and drums by the age of twelve. In 2014, NAJATI amassed 36,000 followers and over 700,000 loops on Vine for posting three vocal covers. But, as life got in the way, this was only a short stint, followed by a long musical drought. NAJATI put music behind indefinitely by the age of 18, to pursue an astrophysics degree at UC Berkeley in California. Here, his life would bring him back to it all.

While at university, NAJATI was a passenger in a life-altering car accident. During his recovery year in Jordan, he found comfort in his lyrics, and began recording and releasing singles for the first time, and in what would become a new standard. This period redefined his path, leading to the creation of  several personal works, including "Lovechild", a deeply cathartic narrative of his re-discovery of music and personal rebirth. "Euphoria" and "When September Rains", though on a more romantic level, also reinforce how NAJATI presents himself through his music: honest, unapologetic and complex.

Now based in Berkeley, California, NAJATI is dedicated to crafting a new sound that resonates with his multicultural identity. From pop to house to alt-rap, the world is thirsty for MENA artists like NAJATI, who are jumping early on fusing Arabic and English in new, unexplored musical territory.

Dear reader,

Thanks for making it this far. 

At 23, witnessing current events of the world has taken a new toll on me. Though I am a makeup of many identities, none touch my soul like my Palestinian one. As a Palestinian, your solidarity with my people, today, is worth more than anything music can ever achieve for me. I encourage you to continue to educate yourselves and those around you on such important matters of the world. Like all people, we Palestinians are paramount more than news sources ever show you (or want to); more innocent, more real, and more deserving of life. Like everyone else, all we want, collectively, is our people safe, our families whole, our sick treated and our children fed. In a world as advanced as ours, humans should never be denied such basic rights. 

In consideration of this, it pierces me every day to know that I am where I am - safe, warm, and healthy - and that millions of Palestinians back home are freezing, sick, starving. It disrupts me entirely to think that while I choose to listen to music all day long, they cannot choose to pause the sounds of missiles and hellfire raining down on them. For months, I battled to cope and make sense of these opposite experiences, until I accepted that I likely never can. Too much inhumanity is involved for it to make sense. The only way I can cope is by personally growing and succeeding as part of the large Palestinian movement. And the only thing I can honestly make sense of is the value of what I have.

Knowing my circumstances as a Palestinian humbles me. It is specifically because I'm Palestinian, that I truly appreciate the value of all that I have. I'm beyond blessed and with a wonderful community around me. As part of the diaspora, I'm aware of how lucky my position in, and exposure to, the world is. I'm extremely hungry to find my place within it, and to dedicate my efforts towards building a better future for us all. Music is one of the many ways I plan on doing so. I will always be thankful for the opportunities life has given me, and without question, I naturally dedicate my life's journey to my Palestine, my people and my home.

I also want to remind you, that the fight for Palestinian liberation is not only mine, but yours too. In fact, no matter your race, religion, gender, or sexuality, our struggle is collective. Much of our world is directed by the inhumanity of corporate greed, the control of mass media, and the incentives of war. We are all victims of system which by all measures seems and acts bigger than us. But by supporting one another directly, I do believe we can measure up against it, and then some. 

Loudly but surely, let us unite in spreading truth, peace and power for all.
