The Ashley Treatment is a highly experimental medical intervention designed to stop the physical and sexual development of severely disabled children. The invasive medical procedure was performed on an American child, "Ashley" X in 2004. The demand for this experimental procedure has sparked serious debate in Austalia.  I spoke to Soldatic Lecturer in Public Policy at the University of New South Wales to find out more about the Ashley treatment.

This story is about visiting policy at villawood detention centre in May 2012.  

Ranjini a Tamal woman who has become the face of the Australian government’s controversial policy mandatory detention. Her arrival at the detention in May coincided with what some refugee activists saw as deliberate changes to the visitation policy that were put in place to prevent certain people from visiting the detention centre. On 27th May 2012 refugee activist protested outside of the gates at villawood detention centre.
