Here we are at mix 100 of our series with an exclusive mix from none other than Chicago legend and founding father of the footwork genre, producer and DJ, RP Boo! The originator, the inspiration, and the cornerstone on which the entire genre has been built on.
    RP Boo started making tracks in 1995 inspired by the house music around him in Chicago. By bumping up the tempo of ghetto house he established a new template that lit a fire under an entire generation of dancers and producers. He created numerous unreleased tracks before experiencing his personal breakthrough with 1997's ‘Baby Come On’ – a composition many cite as the first Footwork track (find it on the Planet Mu's ‘Classics Vol 1’).
    RP Boo's essential first album, 2013's ‘Legacy’ caused a storm of acclaim worldwide as people finally started to piece together his true place in Footwork and the powerful legacy of his work as an innovator. In parallel with productions, his always on-point DJ sets have lit up festivals and clubs worldwide and continue to do so to this day, notably leading to him being named one of the ‘100 World’s Best DJs’ by DJ Mag.
    This Friday he releases  ‘Legacy Vol.2’ on Planet Mu, continuing his story. Featuring tracks created between 2002 and 2007, this is a wonderous selection of material, some known, some unknown.
    RP Boo continues to produce and tour around the world, spreading good vibes, and joy everywhere he lands. The enduring success of his music proving that there’s still no one quite like him. He is a living legend whose work has influenced us deeply. The collection of music we have chronicled would not exist with out him. We are so honored to be able to showcase a studio mix by one of our heroes! Get into the sound!

It’s very typical of progressive songs to group together two concepts that aren’t found together in reality. Some academics think that this ability makes us uniquely human, but this is not convincing. When animals dream, it’s probable that they dream of things that aren’t found together in reality. What is unique to us humans is to use such concepts as will and creativity, which our reason makes possible, which must spring from a subsistent soul. Certain saints reasoned similarly in the 1200’s. They used the example of the concept of a golden mountain. No one has ever seen a golden mountain. But one can conceive it at will, which our rational ability and soul make possible.

All this opens up endless possibilities of creativity for us human beings, including progressive music! Let’s be grateful to the Author of All Beauty for such a gift of our being, which makes things like progressive music possible!
