[ story ]

A wanderer getting off their ship for the first time in weeks. They arrive in a charming and busy coastal town. Hopeful to make a living here, they witness the beauty of the place by going around downtown. They explore the busy market, full of sellers with their colorful garments, customers haggling on top of one another, and food stalls eminating delicious scents of foreign spices they've never smelled before. All kinds of people come to this coastal town. It's a melting pot of different cultures and customs.

[ Story ]

The main character is a quiet but tough person, but not really good at expressing themselves.

They’re at a point where everything in life is just falling under the same uninspiring routine. They’re feeling dull and stagnant, but also constantly busy, overwhelmed, and easily burned out from work, and societal pressure and wish all of it can just go away.

They escape to another world where they can be somebody else. This world is all sunset and pink and red shares.

There’s a breakdown. People are surprised when they hear him scream. He hopes someone can understand him, even a little bit is ok. After getting out all the angst~ hope starts blooming in their chest

there's a special show tonight. a local from damian’s hometown recently left to join an up and coming group of minstrels. they travel across the continent bringing art, music and entertainment. this is their first show in their hometown. he sang this song.

a local from damian’s hometown recently left to become a wandering minstrel. they joined a group of musicians and entertainers from all over the world and now they are traveling across the continent.

it's their first show in his hometown. he sang this song.

this chapter ends in a local gathering at the local bar - the only one in town.

everyone’s happy to see damian back in the village for the first time in years. someone's calling for the owner to bring him food and drinks.

sophia : “wow the food is delicious”
ben: *helping the owner serve food* “if you say that to uncle, he’ll cry and love you forever”
sophia: “jajaja it’s probably too rowdy for him to hear, let’s tell him later”

the village kids have been tailing everyone around like little ducklings, curious to see why the adults are busy. 

kids: “ *giggles* “you have to do it like this, sophia, *deep inhale and shouts at the man at the bar* “UNCLE!! sophia loves the food!” 
sophia : *giggles, joins in* “this pie is to die for!”

the uncle is this dad-like chef and owner of the bar.

uncle: “ *touched, overwhelmed* “thank you miss” *looks to damian* “your mother liked my pies too”

damian misses his mother. he’ll always miss her. but he’s also happy that he has everyone around him. she might have left this world, but she left him him a really big family. his mom was beloved by the town. damian can see her everywhere in the places she used to visit, the people she loves, in himself.

the mayor’s makes a heartwarming speech. damian and sophia are departing tomorrow. they finish their food, and the minstrels to starts to play faster.

a little girl : “damian. can you give these flowers to sophia? they’re from my brother” *sees the little brother hiding behind a chair 
sophia: “oh .. my, how beautiful. thank you”
damian: “ah. looks like i have some competition”
sophia: “indeed~”

next door auntie: “boy, wachu doing?? bring your girl to dance!”
“uh, I- ” damian’s usually not shy about being lovey dovey  in front of others, but turns out he is around his hometown ppl
village chief : “nonsense- *pushes damian and sophia to the dance floor* boy i dun care if she’s noble. show our dear guest how we have a good time in our town! now, dance in the middle!”

sophia looks over damian who is being a little awkward, amused. one of the wandering minstrels, a local, puts on a knowing smile and whips up his accordion. other people crowd the floor as well, and they all start dancing.

the dance gets merrier and merrier, people clapping and exchanging dance partners in rotation. the music ends with everyone with their original partners.

- In Bali, Indonesia, the ngaben funeral ceremony involves a cremation dance called beleganjur. A group of musicians and dancers perform this dance wearing traditional Balinese attire, guiding the deceased’s spirit to its final resting place. Beleganjur is both a mourning ritual and a celebration of the deceased’s life.

Yilian stood in front of the funeral home and greeted the guests with her family in front with her aunt.

She recognized Val's family. His mother Madam Hlin gave her a hug as his father, Mr. Gu, offered his condolences. His uncle, Nan Sae, also came. He recently became head archeologist in the Emperor's Tomb excavation and is determined to make it his entire career, but Yilian's aunt suspects it’s because he doesn't want to leave his stubborn brother and his family alone. He quit his job at the university in the city to be closer to them after Val disappeared 10 years ago and hasn’t left since.

There were also plenty of unfamiliar faces. Yilian can hear some of them gossiping. She never missed that part from these community gatherings. 

The ancestral elegy starts, quieting everyone. It’s customary to have the earthbound keepers - chosen dancers and traditional instrument players - perform while a chosen family member lights up the fire for cremation. the ceremony is meant to release the soul of the deceased and aid in battle against the evil spirits in the afterlife so that it could reach heaven successfully where it can wait to be reborn or become liberated from the cycles of rebirths.
as the fire continues to burn, Yilian sends her silent prayers. she also can’t help but noticed that the earthbound keepers.

the male 1st Kamelan player, the female dancer who represents the spirit of the deceased, and the male dancer who represents an evil spirit, all of them are very skilled.

Television Reality (with @balancelost)

I made this track initially with my friend Neal (not on FAWM) who does sound design. Thought of doing something experimental with world music and Neal's sonic stuff. I did the piano/ chimes, a bansuri flute (a nod to Neal, who's from India) and ethereal /outer space (?) Gamelan (I grew up in Indonesia). And then @splittybooms here really sprinkled some magic here with voxx, percussion, otomatone sounds and effects!

[ story ]

it's the year 3000. we're going to to the suburban areas. they might not have Neon City's shiny and new scyscrapers, but they are still built on remnants of abandoned cities. there aren't really countries anymore after the Big Flood and the Variant Plagues wiped out more than half of the population in the year 2500. though most knowledge of everything is backed up by cloud since 2025 with AI, countries still fell, and the remaining people from different nationalities gather have decided to come together for survival, trade and protection.

everything in this Zone is also now becoming high-tech, but overall was still significantly cheaper to build than Neon City. the mutated, colorful foliage that's been let to grow with the buildings created a unique atmosphere, as if nature is still trying to take over the world. race and cultures blend together, but also still really the value the preserving and treasuring what has been passed down to them from their predecessors and ancestors.

Someone sits by the Stream, looking into the entrance of the underwater village part of the Zone. People have found a way to build and live there too.
