In an innovative synthesis of old and new technology, NANCY covers “In Violet” from Los Angeles based noise band HEALTH’s sophomore album “Get Color”. Using solely the sounds of many pianos, including, a Yamaha midi controlled piano, 100 year old upright piano ran through a variety of distortion and delay pedals, as well as a host of self-designed prepared piano sounds utilizing nails, paperclips, tin-foil and other assorted objects jammed into the strings of a grand piano. The concept of this reinterpretation serves not only as homage to HEALTH but also to the avant-garde composers John Cage, Steve Reich, Conlon Nancarrow, and Phillip Glass. Please enjoy and share.
