After the extraordinary release "Relativity EP", Greta Recordings presents its fifth issue with "Kernel Key" in "Higgs Boson EP". This time, performing with a great remix, we have "Tom Hades". His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics, Drumcode, Bedrock, Tronic, Excentric Musik, 1605, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert(ed), are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes: intelligenter way of drum programming with flavors of techno.

"Higgs" opens the EP, a track with a drum and bassline with immediate impact, with fabulous hats and percs that follow with harmony the whole song. In the harmonic part we find the synthesizers group, including chords, rhodes & stabs totally in the "FM Synthesis" style.

The amazing DJ/Producer "Tom Hades", embraces the notes of the original track. With "Higgs Remix" he enchants us with his ease of manipulation of the samples, adding a darker sound and dub to the track. A play of filters and reverbs creates a unique and sensational ambient. Hats off to Tom for his amazing remix.

If you want a more cheerful and funky sound "Boson" is the right track for you. With the pace in continuous change of clap, ride, hats and synths in subtractive synthesis, they highlight the euphoria of the crowd on the dancefloor.

The latest edition of our Breaking New Soil series proves that time flies when you´re having fun: This is number 10! Once again presented by label head Gregor Tresher, and this time with two exciting contributions by the man himself, we are proud to announce a very versatile lineup: We have Hybrasil, who Gregor met at a gig in Dublin, presenting a beast of a peaktime track with Flexo. Returning to the label is Ferdinando Apicella from Naples, better known as Kernel Key, who delivers another non-conforming techno jam that will go big with all the real Techno heads. Next up we have label favorite Fac3off - returning with not one but two amazing tracks presenting his signature sound - we´re sure we´ll be hearing a lot more from this talent in the future! The Yellowheads, hailing from Spain, had a storming EP release on BNS last year and return in very strong shape with Caelum. Last but not least there is Antipolar from Cologne, with whom Gregor recently shared the decks at Cologne underground club Gewoelbe - he´s new to the label and is debuting with a very unique sounding production called Mandal. Ferdinando Apicella a.k.a. Kernel Key was born in Naples. He has his first approach with the music when at the age of 10 his father gave him his first piano keyboard. He grew listening to Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Dire Straits. But when in 1994 he listened to for the first time to a Techno tape from Derrick May, he had directly a big passion for Techno Detroit. So he started playing with his first vinyls, knowing labels as Metroplex, Underground Resistance, Transmat, Axis, M-Plant, and following DJ\\Producers like Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin, Mike Banks. At the age of 20, he started playing live in most of his hometown clubs, and in january of 1997 he had the honour to play with Damon Wild, getting big hugs from the crowd. For a period of time, he abandoned the Techno scene to learn some Jazz music, but after some years, obsessed by the Techno music, he started studying seriously electronic music production, obtaining the degree of Sound Engineer. In 2011 he started his electronic carreer as Producer and has already had releases on Popofs FORM imprint as well as releases on AGILE the label of Uto Karem, Loose Records and MKT the label of Markantonio. Now he makes is next step with his release on KD Music.

Debut with a bang for the new label "Greta Recordings". Kernel Key, a DJ/Producer, Sound Engineer & Sound Designer who in recent years has shown his true talent, working together with big world-class DJ/Producers on the current Techno/Tech-House music scene, such as Gregor Tresher, Olivier Giacomotto, Sebastien Leger, Uto Karem, Michel De Hey and he established himself with its great successes on labels such as Form, Agile, Octopus Recordings, Bedrock, KD Music, Break New Soil and many others. Kernel Key begins with his first EP "001" which contains 3 bomb tracks, supported by remarkable DJs/Producers. The first track starts with a well-defined bassline, as Kernel Key usually get us used to, and a groove in constant progression. After the main break, the track starts accompanied by a great chord stabs in Subtractive Synthesis, which encloses the entire work. We are talking about "TELHARMONIUM", ideal for big dancefloors. The second track is characterized exclusively by the old Roland TR-909. It's "TRAUTORIUM", with its saturated Toms accompanying the main groove and bassline. The synthesizers group is exclusively represented by FM synthesis with random modulation. Suitable for lovers of old-school sound. The last track "THEREMIN" closes this EP. It is a particular track that goes in search of a sound that is darker than the others, but, at the same time, it has all the style of the EP in it. It's based on 909 Drums and produced entirely with FM and Subtractive Synthesis. This debut is intriguing, for sure not to be missed. Just like the upcoming releases that will have the opportunity to show to everyone the value of this new label.
