Music has always been important to me and I wish to share with you some varied music.  I am more comfortable playing impromptu. I have played accordion in London, North Yorkshire, Surrey, Kent, France and Ireland, in Café Rouge restaurants, boat trips, East End London Pubs, hotels, birthday parties, Hospices, Hospitals, Elderly People’s Homes, 1 to 1 for bedridden sick people – some of these are heart rendering.   But my favourite of all is garden parties.   I won first place in the National Accordion Championships grade 6 duet. 
I have one son, and three grandchildren and spend quality time with them.   I am from a big Family and have always maintained a close alliance with my 5 brothers and 2 sisters.  My mum and dad were a handsome couple and used to like singing around the house.  My mum sang in the kitchen whilst cooking apple pie, bread pudding and chocolate cake.  She’d sing Vera Lynn and Gracie Fields songs.  My parents used to take me to dinner & dances when I was 14yrs age, where I did ballroom dancing with my Dad.   In latter teenage years I went Disco dancing with my sisters and swimming every day at the open air Lido.   I grew up with the Sixties music, and currently, still enjoy listening to it.  Besides Music my hobbies include: crochet, sewing, learning pan pipes & languages, going to open Mic. music sessions. Playing tennis and snooker and enjoy singing Karaoke.   A few years ago, I learnt horse riding and Latin American/ballroom dancing, salsa, also recently tried vintage swing and jive (lindy hop).   Following a successful cancer operation I started to sing and learn the Spanish guitar.   About 9 years ago I bought a piano and re-kindled my childhood enthusiasm to play.   I could always play a tune by ear when I was a kid and everyone owned a piano.  My husband and I met at the local "FOLKMOB" Music Club.  He sings and plays guitar, accordion, piano, mandolin, recorder, ukulele & composes his own songs.  The story is that he bought me a bright yellow Ukulele for my birthday and my grandson wanted it.  So before we gave it away, my husband had already learnt how to play it.  We have lots of musical instruments.  I learnt piano accordion twice a week at evening classes.  Every Xmas approx. 20 of us, would set off with accordions and walk around the streets playing Xmas carols to delight all the children anxiously waiting at their windows for this special treat.   It was always cold, so afterwards we’d go back and drink hot soup and brandy supplied by our teachers.  The evening class and get togethers were so popular, an Accordion Band “Buttons & Bellows” materialised with about 22 people initially.  We played regularly for Old People’s Homes and Ceilidhs.  We even had a drummer for the first venue.  Eventually, I taught the accordion at that same evening class.  I also started a Music Club for amateur performers.    My husband and I formed a duo (Marryélan) made up of guitar and accordion, sometimes with percussion like the washboard or ukelele or bongo drums.
