This morning at the Church of 8 Wheels another legend was made. 250+ dancers showed up for a 2hour journey of world music weaved with deep groovy bass lines and whompy beats for the finest movement pleasure. 

This truly was a powerful moment of connection to Music for me. When there are such real dancers on the dancefloor ready to get down to the most experimental sounds and rhythms is where I most fly with waves and irregular patterns for daring movement. 
At the peak of the dance there were 200 people sweating and jumping up and down from the powerful energy created together. This was a morning for the books. Once again, thank you SF Dance Community. We are Family.

Eclipses this 2024 have marked very strong endings and beginnings for my life, especially in the realm of relationship. The biggest relationship that has grown for me has been the relationship I cultivate with myself. 

Between the April full solar eclipse and this new moon in Libra October eclipse I dove head first into the abyss of the mysteries of my psyche, and navigated in those very deep and dark waters to touch upon soul purpose and huge transformation.

Nowadays I am bewildered to discover that my life-long inclinations, tendencies and patterns have faded. At times, I find myself in fear and disbelief that I can no longer grasp to what was familiar anymore. It's simply no longer. What I find now is myself floating in the emptiness within the circle of the eclipse. The pure unknown within myself ready to be touched by me.

The love affair with life became a little deeper than the surface and what I was fed to believe were my dreams and aspirations. The love affair with life is a constant discovery space now.

I hope you enjoy the very first musical weave that comes out of this 7-month long phoenix process at my 42nd year of life on Earth. Recorded while connecting to 149 dancing Souls at Oakland Ecstatic Dance.

This new ambient masterpiece by NAOBA blends soothing soundscapes with the haunting beauty of real whale songs, creating a meditative journey that washes over you like gentle waves. Perfect for moments of reflection, relaxation, and connection with nature.

NAOBA - OCEAN

Released for Earth Day as part of a whales & ocean compilation for Saisons Musique.

This piece was born from the deep well of sorrow that lives quietly inside me — the kind that doesn’t scream, but weeps slowly, rhythmically, like the sea itself.

I created this track as a love song for the whales… and also for the parts of us that know grief intimately. The grief of losing what cannot return. The grief of hearing the Earth cry in frequencies we almost forgot how to feel. The beauty of this sadness is vast, dignified, ancient.

I used textures of deep pads, minimal melodic gestures with piano, and spacious echo to evoke the weight and softness of mourning. The whale songs are original recordings from NOAA and a Nicaraguan organization that studies humpback whales. This is a track meant to seep deep — it is a requiem, an offering, and a mirror.

May you feel held by its currents.
May it remind you that even sorrow is sacred.
