wonderland

This is a piano version of one of my very first compositions. It is elegant and simple. These factors contribute to the resulting mood of the piece which is hopeful with an undertone of sadness. There was originally lyrics to this melody but in the end I felt the notes portrayed the feelings more than enough to carry the message. I also wanted to leave more room for the piece to be interpreted by the listener.

The mood of this piece is very sad, intense and dramatic with gradual build ups enhanced by dynamics and choice of instrumentation. The quavers moving so continuously throughout the movement brings an element of fear and mystery into the piece as it helps to create uneasy emotion in the music and could symbolise consistent sadness as it accompanies the minor melodies. This movement is 2:24 minutes long.
